only reason Yonkers & Newark are so low on the list is because they are number 1 & 2 in crack. Can't be the best at everything.

How the hell is Boston deal last?

DUIs tend to go down with public transportation.

huh? :spock:

The list was complied and ranked based on DUIs. Since using public transport precludes you from operating the vehicle, it stands to reason that there would be fewer DUIs in such cities with good public transportation available.

That's a lousy way to determine "drunkest" cities- the number of DUI's, fatalities, etc.?

The true source is the number of bars, taverns, etc. per capita, the number of beer sold, breweries, festivals and events that sell beer, etc. Someone used those metrics a couple of years ago and the results were very different than this one.

No way is Milwaukee high enough on this list. Everybody's drunk. There's a bar on every block. The letters on the city limit signs are crooked

Constant drinking builds up their tolerance high enough that they don't experience any of the negative effects.

Any "Drunkest City" list that has Las Vegas at number 11 is bullshit.

Also, the Minneapolis and St. Paul citizenry drink like crazy. #80 and 87 is laughable.

Plus, nobody drives in that convoluted hellhole.

I've done my part. I can think of two occasions where I drove up there when I probably shouldn't have (well, one time I know I shouldn't have).

Repping the LBK at #8 in this one. Lubbock is working really hard to be top 5 next year I promise.

I remember Hays, Ks. having the most alcohol consumed per capita for many years. It was always some kind of pride the locals had.

Octoberfest was an absolute drunktoberfest. The amount of Volga German ancestry played a bit part as well I think.

Agree.
I guess it's just what someone wants to call an accumulation of data.
I would base it on consumtion per person and the list would look different.
This list is almost who can't handle their liquor to me. So read it upside down really. I lived in miami been to ny,boston and people drink seriously in those places.

No way that list is accurate. No way Buffalo is #67. The bars are open until 4:00 am, and there's one on almost every corner. There's nothing to do there but get drunk.
