I second that, Burt. I don't mean to sound so despondent but I've been down here in Florida and it's been a very long and difficult process. The job market is getting better now and I am personally thrilled because this afternoon I'll be going through what I think will be my final interview process with this company in Naples.

This will be a sweet opportunity for me. They won't pay for the relocation from Tampa, but they'll pay for my apartment. I'll have to work a lot, but I think it will all work out. Geebus, when they asked about my family, I said it was only me and my dog and they said they'd be happy to set up a perk so that my dog has day care on them.

At a time when companies are pulling all of the perks, I'm finding the one that is still giving them away. :thumb:

And in Naples!!! :thumb:

My office is only a couple of blocks off the beach. But before I get too excited, I've got to make it through this final interview process this afternoon. It's a teleconference with the owners. Ugghhh.

The primary reason we are moving is that my wife has health issues, hip dysplacia. It is exacerbated by cold weather and dramatic weather changes...Florida will help this situation. She also went through some "Female" issues and the baby didn't make it. Its sad...but then again, god works in mysterious ways. I woulda glady raised the child.

What a strange and interesting turn of events for you. Good luck to you and your family. Enjoy the sun.

I wonder if things are improving in FL, because I did have a recruiter contact me this week about a job down there as well. It wasn't a great fit, so I didn't pursue it, interesting nonetheless.

One piece of advice - under the circumstances (recovering marriage, new location, etc), it might be prudent for you to keep a little "rainy day" fund that the wife doesn't know about tucked away somewhere.

Just a thought.

A lot of people wouldn't think to check.

It's a surprisingly common oversight. Records show that nearly half of the people in Bosnian death camps in the early 90s initially went there believing that they were getting no-down-payment condos.
