My kid loves basketball and wants a hoop. The Fisher Price hoop used to be great about 10 years back and now it seems like everything they make for kids these days has a hoop that is so huge I might as well duct tape a hoola hoop to the wall. I guess they don't want kids to feel bad about missing a shot. After looking at a few it seems all of them have this same mentality going on. Anyone find a good one out there?

Bee Ball hoops... definitely. My son loved it and he was rough with it. It lasted about 5 years.

You shouldn't have a hoop at all. It's a choking hazard. Plus, it encourages competitiveness.

Is he at least wearing a helmet at all times?

Your son will not be any better or worse at playing basketball based on the size of the hoop you buy him now.

Both my sons ended up being pretty damn good if I do say so and they started out with a laundry basket.

In other words dude, don't worry about it.

Edit: And if he can't make a shot, he probably won't like to play. It's ok if it's easy when they're four.

I like the one they had years ago. The hoop was huge on the one I just looked at.

LMAO Only when he's in the cage with the pit bulls.
