These just might be the coolest phucking chicks ever. If you like that surreal, haunting, psychedelic stuff- then Warpaint is for you.

Interesting.

I don't know much about this band, but I think I'll take a 2nd look. FYI, they named their album (Exquisite Corpse) after an "automatic writing/drawing" game the Surrealists' used to play in the 1930's...esp. interesting to me as I just a saw some really cool Surrealist displays at a museum this past weekend...

Exquisite Corpse (http://www.corpse.org/) is also the name of a literary magazine published in Conway, AR and founded and edited by frequent NPR contributor Andrei Codrescu.

That sounds utterly intriguing. I'll have to delve further into this surrealist game. Sounds like something that could be pretty cool.

Duchamp, Prevert, Breton, Henry Miller, and Joan Miro used to play that game? Can't imagine being in the same room with such an enigmatic, interesting and artistic group of people and playing a word game.

Anyways, it's funny now that I think about it 'cause in my early days I used to pass the boredom of drinking in a bar by starting poems on napkins. I'd write a sentence and hand it to my friend sitting next to me. He could add to it or not, but he'd then have to pass it on to the next person. Before long, a stack of napkins came around the bar with additions from strangers sitting around the bar drinking. Some people had something clever to add, some were profound, and of course, quite a few of them were comedians or gaining the opportunity to express their interest in another person in the bar.

Nonetheless, every time we did that, we'd get a handful of girls coming over to introduce themselves 'cause they thought it was such a cool idea. Yes, it was a great way to meet women. Our version wasn't taken seriously like those great French artists. But, it did make for some interesting evenings in the bars.
