Anderson agrees to terms with Cardinals (http://blogs.nfl.com/2010/03/17/anderson-agrees-to-terms-with-cardinals/) <!-- p class="post-info-author">By Frank Tadych</p -->

The news day — on the West Coast, at least — starts with former Browns QB Derek Anderson finding a new home in Arizona.

NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reports Anderson has agreed to terms with the Cardinals, according to a league source.

The move makes sense for the Cardinals, who had been in discussions (http://www.azcardinals.com/news-and-events/article-1/Free-Agency-Fluid/6925edc6-ca1d-4d6b-b929-36d4d9dc7a08) with both Anderson and restricted free-agent QB Charlie Whitehurst as options to compete with “starter” Matt Leinart.

The Arizona Republic had reported both the Cardinals and Seahawks had made contract offers to Whitehurst (http://www.azcentral.com/sports/cardinals/articles/2010/03/14/20100314charlie-whitehurst-contract-offer.html), which would require a third-round pick going back to the Chargers as compensation. While there’s no word on a decision from Whitehurst, it sounds like the Cardinals didn’t want to wait.

How this unfolds in Arizona will no doubt be interesting. Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt has never named Leinart the starter (http://www.azcentral.com/sports/cardinals/articles/2010/03/10/20100310cardinals-leinart-not-starter-for-sure.html), as Kent Somers points out, and seems poised to let Anderson at least win the job. For now, it’s Leinart’s to lose

Looks like Leinart now knows who he's gonna backup next.

The Cardinals are screwed.

Leinart is a guy that would be a perfect fit for a west coast offense, but is a terrible fit for the Cards passsing game.

Anderson has the arm, but has the same kind of accuracy that Matt Cassel has.

They are going to need help.

Getting Anderson away from that fukktardfest in Cleveland might just be what the kid needs.All bullshitting aside I would have taken him over Cassel.

Anderson does have an arm. A lot of those balls weren't his fault because the Browns have brick hands for a WR corp. He should benefit from the Cards WRs if he has his head on straight. I thought it was hilarious when he was slanging the Browns and called himself a "winner." haha

The Cards should just trade Leinart and get something for him.

Is there much of a market for a QB that can't throw anything longer than a 10-yard out? With no zip on the ball?

Good for DA. At least now he is somewhere that has receivers that can actually catch the ball.
