Seems Queen Nan-Nan is falling well short of the 215 voted needed for passage. I am looking for links now to confirm but it is being reported that Pelosi has only 192-200 votes.

Well, I say this with a certain amount of pain and humility, but that is what Rush is reporting. I am hoping he posts this on his web site. He said he was getting conflicting numbers of 192 and 200 and was trying to clarify.

petegz28
03-17-2010, 12:47 PM
This is a few days old but I believe it was what Rush was referring too...

I have had some contact the past couple days with two staffers on Capitol Hill with regards to how many votes Nancy Pelosi has as of right now in favor of passing the Senate version of the socialist health insurance bill sitting before the House. One of these staffers is from a Democrat’s camp and one is from a Republican’s camp and both are in pretty good agreement in that if the vote on the bill were held today Nancy Pelosi would have 192 solid yes votes for the bill. That is not enough to pass but does not take into account leaners that could break in favor of the bill after some further arm twisting.

To pass the the bill Nancy Pelosi and the liberals need 216 votes.

So we need 12 of the 32 undecided to kill this monstrosity?

Whoever the 32 are, we need to melt their damn phones!

I wish they would jsut do what they keep saying and put it an up and down vote. Then when it gets defeated they can move on to some other issue and put this one to bed for the next few years.

I pretty much believe that the "on the fence" Dems understand it is suicide to vote against it. They're just going to hold out right now to seek if they can get some pork in there, like Stupak.

They have no choice. all they got now is downside without a bill passed to say they did anything to their base they are going to need to win re-election.

I honestly believe this bill will pass......but they are going to backdoor/loophole this thing through and its going to be political suicide for BO and his liberal friends. I just think at this point they don't care they just want the damn bill passed.

However I also think this bill will be immediately challenged in the SCOTUS once it's passed.

Why are the dems looking into such a c-f without an up or down vote ?

I don't need to clarify it. You just need to read better.

CMC says whenever Obama opens his mouth, the Dow kamikaze's. He said that.

That doesn't happen. Dow's actually recovered to 10,000. It's doing its usual bobbing and weaving but not at the whim of Obama's rhetoric like it was suggested. I said that.

You rushed in with your OMGZ0RS pants on fire and said I'm claiming the economy's recovered.

Overall trends != specific instances

10,000 isn't recovery by any means.

Generally, when Obama speaks on the economy, the Dow DOES drop. He often speaks about wanting things that will negatively impact Wall Street, whether it's healthcare, banking reform, or just general anti-Wall Street rhetoric. It's only after some facts come out later that it goes back up in spite of what he said. There may have been instances when that wasn't the case (I'm not aware of any), but it has happened several times.

By the way, thanks for clarifying.

That's fair, but it's not because he's endorsing ideas poisonous to a functional economy, it's because he's endorsing regulations, which NEVER poll well on Wall Street.

So let's not adopt CMC's rhetoric that the Dow thinks Obama is tanking the economy. The Dow thinks regulations will cost them a few bucks.
