Could be the pivot point in the Obama administration, and may end the career of several Congressmen.

This surprises me. I would not think they would bring it up for a vote if they didn't have the votes.

Wow. Buncha blue dogs caved.

They're breaking a commandment; keep the Sabbath holy...maybe we'll all get lucky and God will release his wrath on D.C.

Unfortunately however we'll likely be the ones putting up with this plague that's about to pass.

That depends on your religion, so it shouldn't be Saturday or Sunday...how about during the week when we're all paying the optimum amount of attention?

Oh, I need to watch that again; it's been years. Loved the movie but I thought the ending stunk. The urn at the beach had me rolling.

Democrat Acuri from NY, voted yes last time, and just announced that he is voting NO on this bill.

Also sounds like they are a couple votes short of killing the bill. I think like 5 or 6...

Sounds like the vote may not happen Sunday. Obama has postponed his trip now until June.

Well, scratch that. I guess Hoyer has put out the 72 hour notice.

House Rejects GOP effort to block Democrats Strategy to Approve Senate Health Bill (http://congress.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/03/18/house-rejects-gop-effort-to-block-democrats-strategy-to-approve-senate-health-bill/)

The House of Representatives Thursday turned back an effort by Republicans to block House Democrats from using a parliamentary gambit to approve the Senate's health care reform package.

Rep. Parker Griffith (R-AL), who just became a Republican in December, sponsored a resolution that would have required Democrats to have a straight up or down vote on the Senate's health measure.

As part of a complex, legislative tangle, House Democrats are using a tactical two-step to approve the Senate's health bill. In a few days, the House is expected to take up a special budget reconcilation package to okay health care reform. But before doing that, they must approve an earlier version of health care reform that the Senate passed on Christmas Eve.

House Democrats are planning to piggyback the Senate bill onto a procedural vote which would move the reconcilation resolution to the floor. Thus, there would be no distinct vote on the Senate bill. That vote would be a "two-fer," passing both the Senate bill and clearing the way for the reconcilation process.

The vote was 222 to 203.

All Republicans voted for Griffith's resolution.

Twenty-eight Democrats broke ranks and sided with Republicans on this issue.

If 222 democrats voted to essentially authorize the Slaughter rule they will have the votes to carry it on Sunday.

yep...it wouldn't be going forward if Nancy didn't have the votes, imo.

I think that this is a bluff as part of a devised campaign that they've put on to display momentum and inevitablity (Kucinich, Kildee and Oberstar). It may work, but from the politicos around the interwebz that I've seen who are counting, they are still 23-24 votes short.

When looking at polling of the Republic I hope you're right and there aren't that many representatives that are willing to die on their swords.

I am still hearing that as of right now they do not have the votes. I think there will be a ton of arm twisting this weekend. And get this, on Sunday Laraza is having a huge protest at the capital for health care for illegals. How fitting. I think a lot of Dems know their fate rides on this vote.

At this point, they don't have the votes. They're basically playing chicken with their own party. It's a bold move, and if she pulls it off, Pelosi will have earned her stripes.
