Wife is pissed that people were calling in today, then she gets called and has to drive all the way from guthrie down to OU med center.

Yet people 3 miles from work couldnt make it..

She is pissed today.

One of two things will happen in this situation:

1. You get paid to stand around.

2. The snow will intensify and at some point there'll be whiteout conditions. Through the sheet of snow will stagger a beautiful brunette in a white parka, lost and scared after her car went off the road into a snowdrift. You'll give her a free taco. She'll thank you. Since there's nobody else around, you'll converse with her and learn that the two of you have a lot of the same interests. She'll finish her taco and you'll ask her what she's going to do now. She's not sure, because she doesn't have the money for a hotel. You'll tell her that you have an apartment not too far away, and you'll see the gratitude in her big powder blue eyes. She'll wait out your shift, helping you clean and close down the store, and the two of you will head home together to culminate a story that will make your grandkids titter 40 years from now.

My bet is on #1, though.

This, what would happen if Doctors say "fuck it, I'm not going to work." If someone has a critical medical problem during this period and there is no one working in the ER? That shit would be fucked up

No, I left because I felt my life needed direction, and I thought the Navy would provide that.

In many ways, it did.

And before I get this response, I lived in Missouri and KC until nearly age 30. And I left for a job... and in the media, I have to go to work no matter what. Snowstorm, blizzard, hurricane.... television doesn't turn off when shitty weather comes around.

There's a big difference in those types of jobs and being a cashier at Taco Bueno. Sometimes it's not worth the risk of wrecking your car or putting it in a ditch for a $8/hr job.

I've got news for you HF, most of us would consider any day a bad one, if we had to sling hog jiz for a living. Weather would have very little to to with it.
