Mods, feel free to move to Media Center after a bit, but I posted it here for initial traffic purposes.

Starting tonight is a 10 part series titled 'Life.' Word is, it has all the visual brilliance of 'Planet Earth.' For those allergic to Oprah Winfrey narration and 'go green' pronouncements of coming Armageddon, watch with the sound off. But watch.

8p EST, Discover and Discover HD.

Oprah is the main reason I have no interest in this. I do like your point of turning the volume down. heh

I don't get the channel to watch it and refuse to pay for it on BD when it comes out because of everything you just stated though.

The review I heard said that the visuals were, once again, stunning.

However, the narration was redone for American release, and while the "Planet Earth" series was engaging and informative , the "Life" series is a bit preachy and condescending...and that while Oprah may be a media titan, that doesn't necessarily mean she brings much to the narration.

The recommendation was to wait for disc release and get the original narration version (I can't remember the name of the English narrator)

Sounds good, Mr. Baby Lee. The trailer things look really interesting.

Tonight they're going to show the mating rituals of the stalk-eyed fly.

Looks amazing.

And I don't care who narrator is. Narrators are like subtitles, if the show's good enough, you forget about them.

Why is it they feel we need an American narrator anyway?

I agree. I hear the words but not the person. I also don't really care about the politics of celebrities, so that won't bother me either.

I think Mike Rowe should do every narration. He was great on Wild Pacific.

I hate Oprah. I'll wait until Disney reorganizes the film layout and uses James Earl Jones to narrate.

There is a BBC version of this?

I cant watch it anymore. She sounds like she is trying to make everything sound like the most heart-touching moment ever.

Tell it like it is.

VLC if you dont want to bother with codecs, otherwise just regular window media player with the right codecs works well.

Both do a good job on my htpc, my xbox (original running xbmc) wont play mkv at all.
