This will not stand.

No one should be confused about the outcome of Sunday's vote

This is not the end of the fight it is the beginning of the fight.

The American people spoke decisively against a big government, high tax, Washington knows best, pro trial lawyer centralized bureaucratic health system
300x250

In every recent poll the vast majority of Americans opposed this monstrosity

Speaker Pelosi knew the country was against the bill. That is why she kept her members trapped in Washington and forced a vote on Sunday.

She knew if she let the members go home their constituents would convince them to vote no.

The Obama-Pelosi-Reid machine combined the radicalism of Alinsky, the corruption of Springfield and the machine power politics of Chicago.

Sunday was a pressured, bought, intimidated vote worthy of Hugo Chavez but unworthy of the United States of America.

It is hard to imagine how much pressure they brought to bear on congressman Stupak to get him to accept a cynical, phony clearly illegal and unconstitutional executive order on abortion. The ruthlessness and inhumanity of the Obama-Pelosi-Reid machine was most clearly on display in their public humiliation of Stupak.

The real principles of the machine were articulated by Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings who was impeached and removed from the bench as a federal judge, before being elected to the House when he said ""There ain't no rules here, we're trying to accomplish something. . . .All this talk about rules. . . .When the deal goes down . . . we make 'em up as we go along."

It is hard for the American people to believe their leaders on the left are this bad.
They are.

The American people will not allow a corrupt machine to dictate their future.

Together we will pledge to repeal this bill and start over

Together we will prove that this will not stand

2010 and 2012 will be among the most important elections in American history

These elections will allow us to save America from a leftwing machine of unparalleled corruption arrogance and cynicism

Sunday was one more step in the fight against a "Washington knows best" and "Washington should run everything" attitude.

Let us turn now to the Senate to continue this fight for real reform, for real self government, and for policies that create jobs, improve health outcomes, and increase freedom.

I doubt America has ever been in such peril at any time in its history.

No external enemy could ever be as dangerous as the lawless band of thugs who are presently dismantling the Constitution...

And yet, the stock market rises, the hospitals are still open, folks are at work, children are in school...

It will never be overturned...those polls that show 50 plus % of folks being against it include people like me who wanted single payer.

Just because I wanted that doesn't mean that I am against most of this bill. I think universal health care is a right. I believe that one shouldn't be left on the curb because of a pre-existing condition, etc.

These things aren't going away because some conservative somewhere believes its best to let folks with preexisting conditions suffer the consequences.

Both sides engage in hyperbole. The Left claims that Bush destroyed the country. Now the Right claims that Obama is destroying the county.

My guess is that the country will still be standing 20 years from now. We may have a bloated government health care bureaucracy and the people who already have health care will probably be worse off, but the country will still be standing.

Good thing that the White House was never burned to the ground by an invading Army, or half of the country split off and fought a war that claimed over a million casualties.

Since the left couldn't get the 60 votes to pass it through regular order.

Since their 60th vote went the way of Ted Kennedy to a Republican in MA who explicitly ran AGAINST BarryCare.

Yeah, this bill is exactly what Americans wanted.

What were you expecting? This bill only takes place incrementally; not all at once...but the writing is on the wall...and this will only incumber the economy from recovering no matter what happens on wall street.

I like how Lew says it better n' me. But I'd add, Gingrich 's Iraq plan he wrote was warmed-over socialism. He's posturing by exploiting public sentiment to run for president. He's twisted arms behind the scene and could give a rat's ass but that was a good point he made on Pelosi keeping them trapped on Sunday, Alinksy and how bad the left is regarding rules.

Don’t you love all the Boehner-McConnell-Gingrich threats to repeal Obamacare? It is the conscious duty of the Republican statists to make their voters accept Democratic statism, and vice versa. Mitt Romney’s medical scheme in Massachusetts is as bad as Obamacare, but almost no Republican cares about it. After all, Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II all massively expanded government subsidization and control of medical care. Republicans just want the jobs, the subsidies, and the payoffs. Socialized medicine: it’s as Republican as apple pie.

even if they got 60 to over turn it, they'd need 66 since the President would veto any bill that overturns it. Not to mention they'd need 2/3 of the House as well

Then they should trim it, starve it and weaken it. When it implodes under it's own weight they can then repeal it in the future.
