Depends on if their gun is juiced. It was obvious the K's gun was juiced... Meche was ringing it up there at 97 in his first start. Soria, Greinke and Davies were all throwing pretty hard too. I think a lot more places are doing that now that a lot of scoreboards put the pitch speed up there.

But really it's a product of his lack of lateral range and is a routine play for a higher-quality ML SS.

If Betancourt is diving/sliding for a ball, most shortstops are playing it with a backhand.
