View Full Version : Life The first time you told your SO you loved them.

I was just curious to hear some stories. Before my current girlfriend I have never actually "loved" a female like I love my girlfriend. So I have never told a female I loved them before her, because I havent. I am a little nervous to tell her I love her, but I'm excited also. I know some people throw the word around a lot so it's no big deal to some, but it means a lot for me to say that to her. I was just wanting to here how it was when you said it and actually meant it. Were you nervous, worried, or anything like that?

You know what you need to do? Start being a man and cut the nonsense with all this mushiness. It's draft season.

I told my ex after we came home from a night out with her friends. We had been dating for about 2 months at the time. Wasn't nervous, it felt right. Her reaction was, "I love you too. I've been dying to say that for so long." Apparently, she knew much quicker than I did.

Like you, she was the first woman I was "in love" with.. now it's time to find the next. ;)

I've only said it back, even though I never meant it. Eventually the relationship doesn't work out anyway and everything is OK.

Interesting thought, but this girl would never say it first. I've always been told the man needs to say it first.

You've been with her for 8 months so, whether it's love or not, you two have strong feelings for each other. Not being "in love" before makes it a little more tricky, but you'll know when it feels right. Don't plan it, rehearse it, script it, etc. When it feels right you will blurt the words out.

90% chance she says it back. No way to know if she means it though. Listen to Flop on this, let her say it first. She will eventually, there's no way around it unless you break up first. In that case, being the 1st to say "I love you" wouldn't have been worth it to begin with.

This is true, I guess never having said it, it makes me think "I hope it doesn't scare her off", but we've been going out so long I don't see that happening. Thanks for the tips :)

I can't quite remember when I said it to her.

I do remember that after the first night of intimate passion she rolled over and looked me dead in the eyes and asked what I was thinking about.

I looked her square in the eye and with a conviction I had never felt before I told the deepest desire in my heart.

A Ham Sandwich.

That set the tone for the whole relationship.

How annoying is a woman that says "I love you" and demands a response. It's, like, 20 seconds ago, you told me you loved your new pants, and now you expect me to take your "I love you" seriously? Pardon me if I can't effort a response when you have the same passion for me as you do for some linen and thread. Oooh, you mean you "REALLY love me"!? I really love some fellatio, so get to it.

Dude when you start trying to figure out others game(s) that's when you lose. Stop playing the freaking games and tell her how you feel if you want to tell her how you feel.

Too many MANLY MEN. Look at it like this. If she died in her sleep overnight... you'd kill yourself for not telling her.

DO IT![/Hutch]

Ask her to watch the draft with you ... it would be basically the same thing.

Other than that - it's just words riding the hormone wave. The feelings and interactions that result through longevity develop into that human situation described as love.
