Folks,

I have to say, the upcoming schedule is looking pretty good.

As of today we play the following teams:
Oakland 6-1
Denver 4-4
Buffalo 3-4
Carolina 3-4
Atlanta 2-6
New England 2-6
San Francisco 2-6
Seattle 2-6
San Diego 0-7

I know there are no guarantees in this league (just ask St. Louis about us http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ), but besides Oakland, we don't play a team that currently has a winning record the rest of the season.

You can gloom and doom all you wish, but personally I'M looking forward to these games.

Some of those teams are much better than their schedule. Seattle took it to us last time and we barely pulled off a come from behind victory. You never know when a team you should beat is gonna play the game of their season.

I agree,I see 7 games that we can stumble in.As much as I want to run the table,I don't see that!Too many teams there that can take it to ya !

Oh, I didn't say there were any gimmees (see Broncos vs Bengals), but ALL of those games are winnable.

I'd say my preseason prediction of 10-6 is looking better and better. And, given that the rest of the league is starting to cannibalize itself, getting a wild-card out of the west is NOT impossible (Ravens fading, Jax just about done.)

Sure, we could lose some of those games, but given the play the past three or four weeks, I'm much more confident than I was in Week 2.

An outsider's observation: You Chiefs fans are certainly passionate about your football. I remember the gloom and doom espoused after the dismal preseason and the early losses. Calling for the heads of the management, dire predictions of losing records. Then you went on a win streak, the skies cleared, and optimism abounded. I remember some posts saying if you lost to the Raiders the season would be over. Oakland wins, and the heavens grow cloudy once again. Now you've stomped the Champs into the turf, and I'm seeing "11-5" and "run the table." No one can accuse Chiefs fans of passivity. You guys are a roller-coaster of emotion.

The important games left are the AFC West games. If we don't win out in those games, we lose one of our chances to go to the playoffs. We must win out in those games, then 10-6 may win the division. 11-5 is a must for the WC......

Oxford:

I pretty much agree that the path to the WC is difficult. We will probably lose tiebreakers with Indy, Miami, and the Ravens. For the Chiefs, 10-6 will be good enough for a wild car only if one of those teams finishes 9-7. While this seems unlikely, Miami and Indy each have 7 tough games left on the schedule. Indy's road is particularly tough. They have the Jets twice, Miami twice, Buffalo, Detroit, and Minnesota. Unfortunately, they play all but two of those games at home. My computer simulations show us missing the playoffs about 40% of the time we finish 10-6, but I'm not sure of the breakdown between division winner and WC for the 60% of the time that 10-6 is good enough.

Duck-

Welcome to Chiefs football, dude.

Between our lack of a featured back, the thrill of wondering which coach will show up for the next game and the dog-eat-dog AFC West, you have all the fixings for a full-blown schizophrenic break.

Plenty of room in the asylum, Duck. You can have the bed next to mine.

Frequent flyer miles are definitely going to pile up for the Chiefs. I think the Oakland game and the December 4th game against the Pats (even though their record doesn't show it) will be two of the toughest. The Bills game in Arrowhead might also be a close one. Homefield hasn't been as kind this year.
