It doesn't look like a terribly tough schedule, but the chiefs have a habit of playing extra badly when facing bad teams. They also have a knack for playing way over their heads and upsetting a quality team a time or two. It's the "any given Sunday" factor.

Personally, I'm optimistic. I think 7-9 or 8-8 is doable this season, and that's a big step up. I'll expect more after that.

I am not down on the draft or anything.Think the team will improve.Still looks like a possible 1-5, maybe 2-4 start going into Buffalo. The division games are always interesting and you can't just rack up teams like Cards and Seahawks as wins. The team would have to get it together nicely and play VERY well to get to .500. Don't think that is being negative.Maybe we can get on a run.

If the Kansas City Matt Cassels are going to win 10 games,we better get a new QB.

6-8 wins is the worst place to be. We will win just enough to remove ourselves from being able to draft a franchise QB after matt cassel falls flat on his face. FML. Chances are, Pioli will still back cassel and we'll draft a wr. Mediocrity for life.

IF we can score early, and the addition of a return game and McCluster can do that, hopefully we can force a team away from the run rather quickly, and then the secondary which looks to be greatly improved, should hold.

Like our record will really be the thing that stops us from drafting/trading for one.IMO after seeing the QB's we have passed on over the past 2 seasons,Matt Cassel is our guy not just for this season, but at least 3 more.Pioli is trying to break the mold of Bill Belichick failures, and admitting this early he was wrong on Cassel would be a death strike to his GOD complex.I have little doubt that he will turn us around,I just don't see it being in the next 2 seasons.

I think folks are underestimating the coaching additions this season and last year's roster of players improving significantly because they are in their 2nd year in a new system. I have more confidence in Cassel especially working with Weis this season. People on this board are going to be very surprised seeing a much improved competitive Chiefs team. Hope I'm right.

Right now, before training camp and final 53 cutdowns, six wins minimum, nine wins maximum.

It'll likely be somewhere in between.

This offense should be vastly improved.

The defense will end up between 23 and 27.

Remember that EVERY team in the NFL improved last weekend. The question is how much did you improve relative to the other teams on your schedule, and in the NFL in general?

tmax63
04-27-2010, 06:57 AM
I think I can see 7 wins. Cassell got more weapons that will make the short pass game work better and I see the ppg going up some. I see improvements to the d, a real live coach, an improvement in the safeties and a getting a third corner who can cover. Not dramatic improvements but maybe 2-3 spots overall. Still very young at some positions so growing into their roles will count some. They could still get 1-2 players that are cut/released from other teams that are better than what we got as well. I don't see why everyone hates playing to Cassell's strengths as a QB. Every team in the NFL tailors their offense to what their qbs do best.
To me this adds up to 7-8 wins.

It takes a lot to win all the games you have a chance at winning, its nearly impossible. I think the 72 Dolphins were the only ones to do it. I know the 85 Bears were supposed to win the game they lost and the 07 Pats lost the Super Bowl, which they were supposed to win.

Looking at your schedule I see about 12 games that you have a definite chance of winning.

These are the only games I think you definitely won't win.

Then again with the Titans, if you guys are having a good season and have playoff potential, that Titan game could easily be a win.

I like this. As far as the Titans go, that will depend on if we can stop CJ. If we are able to stop him, we should have a decent chance in that game. But as we all know, that is easier said than done.

This season is a crap shoot. We could possibly win anything from 6 games to 10 games depending on how things play out. And I think that is why so many people are predicting 8-8.

Here's the thing:

There are teams on the schedule that are just flat-out more talented than we are, that are very likely losses. Indy, Houston, @San Diego

The teams on the schedule that people think we have a "chance" to beat almost all have a decent to solid running game.

Cleveland. San Francisco. Jacksonville. STL. Tennessee.

Teams like Buffalo, Seattle and Arizona are going to be primarily running teams this year.

Unless we somehow manage to improve against the run, you can't expect this team to win many games.

Split in the division, and hope we can stop the run against weak teams like Seattle, STL, and Jacksonville.

Had they addressed the front seven in the offseason, yeah, the potential would have definitely been there for 8 wins with this schedule.

I'm thinking 12-4. The key will be keeping McCluster healthy and rested for the playoff run. This could be a reality. It would require some cunning to win the Tennessee game though, because I don't anticipate us doing better than a 4-2 division record. @Oakland and @SD will trip us up... and we might lose @Denver too.

I have a feeling that Denver will have folded it in for good in 3 weeks...

I cant see them winning but another 2-3 games the rest of the year...

It depends if they lose to the 49ers this week in London. If they win they have a bye before we face them.

yup the division winners have home games and the other two playoff teams from each conference are the wildcards that have to play away games.

The top two division winners from each conference get first round byes and home playoff games in the divisional round.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Houston win the south and for Indy to be the team we have to play in the first round at Arrowhead.

This team can go as far as it wants. I mean the superbowl. Yeah I know that sounds rediculous considering this team hasn't been to one since....
The thought of making the playoffs this year was rediculous. I mean really this team can beat anyone especially with a good spot in postseason. As for now....lets just focus on taking it one game at a time.

Our inside running game, that has been ultraproductive so far this year, will start to fade a little towards the end of the year.

Weigman is playing very very well right now, but over the last few years he has had trouble keeping weight over the course of the year and some reports have him at 265-270 by years end over the last 2-3 years. He will still be able to be a good pass protector for the remainder of the year, but I don't think he will do very much as far as attacking right at teams up the gut toward the end of the year and into the playoffs.

At that point, Cassel will need to start earning at least half of his check amount if we are to keep winning.

I see us winning 4 out of our next 5 and then for Cassel to have more put on to his plate after that...I am hoping he is ready for the challenge at that point.

I predicted us to win 8-10 games this year and even I would be very surprised to see us win more than one playoff game once we get there...of course, it all depends on who we draw as competition though.

Wouldn't it be crazy if we played NE in the playoffs?

1. Matt Ryan doesn't have 4 int games because he's ****ing Matt Ryan. He's had plenty of 2 int and I think one 3 int game.

2. Matt Cassel has already played Buffalo and despite not playing at a high level, took care of the ball.

3. Interesting side note 10 of Cassel's 16 int's last year were against divisional opponents. So, 62.5% of his int's came against the most important 37.5% of our schedule. In fact the only 2 non-division games he threw picks was the buffalo disaster and the 2 in Cinci. Also 11 of his 16 came in the second half of the season. He has a career 11/14 TD/Int ratio as a starter against division opponents with 187.4 yards/game.
