View Full Version : News Question about the Oil Spill

My extended family (my mom, my brothers and their families) all go to the Destin area every year in August. One of my brothers has suggested that we cancel the trip this year, because he's predicting that the beaches and such are going to be a mess. Has anyone seen any scientific prognostications on what the spill is going to do to the beaches in the coming months?

They don't know for sure what the total impact is going to be, but I think it's a safe bet that the beaches are not going to be cleaned up by August NP.

Phin, I'm no scientist but this spill has the potential to make the damage that Katrina did look minuscule in comparison. I know comparing a hurricane to an oil spill is an apple and oranges type thing. Katrina will no doubt have a higher death toll but economically and environmentally speaking this spill and it's potential impact is terrifying.

Go somewhere not on the East side of the gulf.
