Kila's in a tough spot, you dont want to be a no-glove 1B/DH in this organization.

Exercise patience and play full time once Guillen is traded (no matter the return) at the deadline.

And if we can't trade Guillen and Kila is still sitting the bench after the break, it will be reason #245 why Moore should be fired.

He won't, though, because it's against the "code" to pull a position player in the middle of a game.

I'll wait until I can compare both of their OPS' at the end of the year, one thing about Buck is that he'll go on a home run tear and then disappear for the next two months. I remember one season where he had hit about fifteen home runs before the all star break.

He finished the year with seventeen homeruns, and a batting average around .220.

05-07-2010, 09:11 PM
Little late here, I recorded the game. My observations:

(1) Yuniesky Betancourt should have been immediately pulled from the game and shipped to Omaha (or better yet, released) for dropping that popup. No major leaguer should ever drop that. I understand making an error on a ground ball once in a while, making a bad throw, even misjudging a fly ball. But there is no excuse for a major leaguer to drop a popup.

(2) Scott Podsednik has to be the worst bunting fast guy ever to play the game. That is at least the 4th or 5th time he has popped up a bunt this year.

(3) I know the offense sucks, but how is bunting a good move in any of those situations? People who claim that Trey Hillman is fine and this team's awfulness is entirely Dayton Moore's fault need to watch this game. Why would you bunt in the 3rd and 5th innings with no outs and guys on base and two of your best hitters when you are losing?

I agree on the issue of Kendall, but when us Royals fans are lubing up our palms for John ffing buck, it shows just how pitiful this franchise truly is.

so true. :(

Its not that Trey is fine. He's irrelevant when the GM is bad. The GM controls 80-90% of the long-term destiny of your team. Most of the other 10-20% is blind luck, then you've got a few points somewhere in there for the manager.

It's like complaining of a headache when you have a compound fracture in your leg pouring blood everywhere.

I missed the game and heard the postgame...something about betancourt dropping the ball? I heard Zack's interview and he blames himself pretty much and no one else. 0-4 is total BS. 4-2 at worst is what his record should be

Trey Hillman is a hell of a lot worse than a headache.

I see something very common, catching to the side....rather than getting under the ball. It's inexcusable, that is why gordon and betancourt have the same thing in common. That type of catch and they suck.

Imagine how cool it would have been if he could have pulled off that terrific one hand catch.

I mean, that would have been so, so cool, it's too bad he could not quite pull it off.

hehe reaper's post made me want to bump this thread.

You guys can believe me if you want on this story but something hilarious happened.

I was sitting 16 rows up from 3rd and one of my best friends was up about 10 rows in the same section. Well, there was a season ticket holder sitting close to him that was a Royals fan. Anyways after the Dejesus piss poor bunt attempt while we were down 3-1, this guy goes apeshit on Hillman. Yells at him for bunting while being down by 2 runs and then just starts in on him being a piss poor manager. The fan then starts in on Bloomquist and told Willie he wouldn't have a job in MLB if he wasn't sucking Hillman's dick.

Well, after the Royals come in from their next defensive outing the guy gets a baseball with a handwritten note on it tossed to him. The note said that (and this won't be verbatim) that the guy was jackass who knew everything in baseball so that must be why he's the coach in the stands. It wasn't signed so I let you all draw your own conclusions about it.
