I heard about this on the radio this morning. Very sad story. What would you do if an airline lost your pet?

"Where's Paco? Josiah doesn't know, his girlfriend doesn't know, someone at Delta might know. After all, Delta was supposed to load Josiah's new dog on the same plane that Josiah got on. Paco didn't land with them. Frantic, Josiah called around desperately before being told that Paco was safe and sound, being taken care of by Delta employees, who would put him on the next flight out. Paco wasn't on that one either. More harried calls and Delta told Josiah Paco had "escaped" and the best they could do is refund his $200.00 pet transportation fee, but only as a "credit" for future Delta travel. That doesn't do Josiah any good, as he's vowed to never fly Delta again."

I wouldnt put my dog through torture of putting them in a kennel and making them fly in the cargo hull of a jetliner. Probably would scare him shitless and I wouldn't want to clean the shit piss and throwup in his "Pet Taxi" or wtf ever you wanna call it.

But aside from that. Yes this would be an awful sitation if an airline co. lost my Dog. If it was a cat, I'd say "keep it" and go along w/ my day.

Have you seen that stupid commerical where the lady dresses her kid as a dog, puts him in a kennel before taking him on the plane, trying to save a few bucks to cover her cell phone bill? I am sure someone is going to try that stunt next.

There's actually a radio commercial I hear all the time now where a dog escapes at the airport and the guys use their cell phones to track him down.

Note to self: never post a thread on CP if an airline ever loses someone's cat.

A few years ago my mother in law was flying from Portland to Austin and had to change planes in Denver. She was already having some issue with Alzheimer's and thought she was at her destination. By the time she asked for help in trying to figure out why noone was there to pick her up, her plane had left for Austin along with her dog. They gave her some dinner and stayed with her to be sure she got on her plane. The ticket counter here in Austin shared some brisket with the dog (a Pomeranian) and took him for a walk. I will forever speak very highly about Frontier Airlines for these actions!

Delta is a horrible airline. They lost ALL of my luggage coming back from the Bahamas years ago. I never used them again. The Miami and Atlanta airports are a nightmare...the amount of luggage damaged, ransacked or stolen is unbelievable.

Well what the hell did you expect from an airline whose name is an acronym for Don't Expect Luggage To Arrive?

I agree about Miami- hands-down one of the absolute worst airports in the nation.

I'm just curious when something like this happens- do you get a refund for the phucking baggage fee when the airline loses your luggage? I know they ask you for an estimated value for your lost luggage and pay you that amount, but how do you place a value on a family pet?

But, if they lost my luggage nowadays, I'd be demanding my baggage fee to be refunded along with the estimated value of my luggage.

It's his own fault for flying Delta.

If he wanted to get any of his stuff there in one piece, he'd have used a real airline.

Delta sucks hard. Southwest, then Continental, then AA and probably Greyhound before Delta.

Delta is bad, but Continental and American Airlines both suck just as bad as Delta.

Next time you fly, consider one of the better airlines like: Southwest, Virgin America, JetBlue, Alaska Airlines, or Midwest Airlines.

Southwest is its own tier, IMO. I've also never had a problem with Continental, though I was on a flight they overbooked once. I ended up with $800 in travel vouchers, 2 meals and a place to sleep for the night for my troubles so it was not a huge deal.

American was decent, but nothing special.

When it came down to it, Delta just sucked. Old planes, mediocre service, sketchy baggage and inconsistent flights. Lousy, lousy airline.
