Apparently my hometown (Ark City) was almost hit by one. My dad says he could hear it from the front porch, but from what they can tell, it stayed away from the town proper. Hopefully everyone out west of town is OK...

In the basement? What is wrong with you? You should be outside with a camera, you don't get a chance to see a tornado every day.

Don't even have a basement lol

I was 6 when that F5 Hesston tornado hit and it's traumatized me ever since. I was about a mile away from that.

My best friend lost her home in the Andover tornado. She was lucky to get to shelter...she worked 3rd shift at a Philips 66 and was sleeping. someone saw her as they were running to shelter and woke her up

Was watching a live stream out of OKC... they whipped their helicopter around and there was a huge tornado approaching Norman, OK.

Watchin news4 and 9 here in Oklahoma.

The damage around OKC is crazy. Snapped trees, power lines, poles, houses just ripped to shreds.

Showing a lot where a trailer is supposed to be, it was moved 50 yards or so into a treeline.

Thank God it is over for now. It never really warmed up as hot as they thought. That saved it from being much much worse

They cancelled all river fest events tonight earlier this morning. Many people were let off work early. My nephew had his final in Criminal Justice postponed. All of this was before 3 pm

Nothing but rain in Overland Park so far. It's a hell of a gully-washer, though, and it looks like there's a potential for a lot more coming from the south and west.

I heard some of it on the radio. Those guys in Wichita just like to scare old ladies. There wasn't nearly enough heat on the ground to form powerful tornadoes today.

That is what probably kept me from going crazy during the storm. I knew the heat was not there. Imagine if it had gotten warmer through the day...

Sounds like damage was minor for the most part. No one's even sure if an actual tornado touched down or not. About 3k people are without power at the moment, and a few downtown buildings were damaged, but I have only heard of one mobile home in a nearby town that is destroyed. All things considered, pretty minor damage.

The storm that went through Norman, OK is going south of us. Looks like we'll get heavy wind and storms from another system but the brunt of it will hit north of here.

CaliforniaChief

These are still dangerous storms, but I'm seeing more of a straight-line wind/hail/heavy rain thing developing over the last 30 minutes. Once the storms get in line with each other the tornado threat goes down. When they're isolated like they have been, there's no competition for energy that feeds the storms. I hope that's right and all of you in Oklahoma/Missouri/Arkansas/Kansas/North Texas can relax a bit.
