View Full Version : KSU Does KSU NEED KU?

Pitt Gorilla

I keep hearing/reading KU fans lamenting the fact that they will have to drag the "KSU anchor" in potential conference realignment. Does KSU really need Kansas to land in a good BCS conference? If the situation plays out, will Kansas really be held back by K-State?

I honestly have no idea. Kansas does have a rather small population to be supporting two large universities, and that can't help with television ratings (and the money that goes along with those for potential conferences). With football being an important part of the equation, would KSU be fine, or even better off, without Kansas?

  This should be entertaining. I think it is going to be pretty funny when it is revealed that Missouri was never invited to the Big 10.

Do you want to go to the first Missouri/Northwestern game at Evanston? I understand its fairly easy to get tickets.

I assume you'll want to bring something purple. Perhaps you should just wash your KU stuff in hot water and let the red and blue run together. :D

There is a lot of history here (http://www.huskerpedia.com/conference/big6.html)It very well could be that Missouri isn't invited. I think they probably will be and I think they will accept. KU fans seem to agree, at least to some extent, or there wouldn't be much talk about KSU holding them back. While I get to hear about it in person, you can also check out KU's Scout site etc. to see the KSU discussion.

ROFL I have some K-State purple, as I like them both. Get lots of comments from people on the "Power Cat" thinking it is an improvement over the NW logo.

Going to a Mizzou/NW game would remind me of the time I went to a WSU/Nobody game.

Kansas and Kansas State spend near the bottom of the barrel every year on athletics in the Big XII. This is all about football, and unfortunately, neither school has the resources to compete with the big boys.

Does that clear things up?

Oh they can go their separate ways if the Board of Regents are convinced it is the best for the State overall. If KU has the option to go to a high level conference and KSU does not... in the end the State won't stand in KU's way. It is that or to have two dying Universities and the State doesn't want that.

The board is going to try and force a package deal ... if they wait too long then both teams could end up playing in mid valley scrub league.

hopefully it doesn't get that far

Both controlled by the same people........Kansas Board of Regents.

Think of it like Jimmie Johnson (the 48 team) and Jeff Gordon (the 24 team). Both owned by Rick Hendrick, but two different teams that benefit each other.

They're not getting split up for any reason.

I mean, how many houses does a head basketball coach in Lawrence really need?

Dude, comon... Financially speaking, MU is a much better deal for the B10, I mean it's not even close. I'm pretty sure that was the main driving force behind that decision. Nebraska brings other things to the table, I guess, like nationally recognized brand and an incredibly good AD (even though they only really care about FB).

If the WEF investigation is what caused KU not being considered, it's a pretty stupid reason.

If anything, KSU would be better off w/out KU even existing. KU takes probably every single in state basketball recruit worth a sh*t and they probably split on football recruits. Same thing in Iowa. Probably 80% of people in Iowa and Kansas like the Hawkeyes and Jayhawks respectively.

So in reality, KU is of detriment to KSU.

Football both teams have been uper middle road the past few years so niether team is a bad candidate for conferences. My question is why does MU want out of big 12 so bad ? It is one thing to run behind the texas schools but to also be behind the Kansas schools! Actually I am sick of the small minded weak action of the little 12.

"You're obsessed with me"!!!

"You're obsessed with DVD's"!!!

Oh the burn....

Oh you got me William... How can I ever fix these burns? Oh the humanity...

And I was just starting to like you again. What's up with that?

Your obsession with me is flattering but creepy....

Relax dude.

You do realize you're one of the most arrogant posters on the intraweb, right? But we still love you. And my point is that KSU BBall is vastly inferior and celebrates small success with great vigor :).

Selling DVD's of beating Top #5 teams, historic seasons = celebrating small success with great vigor.

Tearing down goalposts multiple times after beating mediocre to bad teams = students doing stupid shit.

Just so we are on the same page here.

Yes we're on the same page. Nobody in their right mind would compare what students do to the DVD factory over in Manhattan.

And yes, some of the historic seasons you've had are pretty laughable when put into a perspective view outside of Manhattan, KS. I'm not saying you shouldn't enjoy the DVDs, Saul, you do what you gotta do. Just don't call Reerun stupid when he slings shit your way for it.

Pretty good straw man, not going to lie.

What does it have to do with the current argument? Making fun of students is perfectly acceptable. I was talking about comparing what students do to hanging stupid banners or making stupid DVDs at certain schools.

Pretty hypocritical and stupid to not compare the two, and to just flat out ignore that your "DVD Factory" has done the same thing. The 2007 football season for Kansas is laughable to everyone outside of Lawrence, KS - yet they made a DVD highlighting the "magical run".

If we go back a couple years before, they created t-shirts after beating Iowa State to secure a bowl bid. They didn't even know what bowl they were going to.

So, go ahead and sling shit for DVD's. It's hilarious and very phogtard-ish. Just don't expect to prove a ridiculous point when you are blinded by your phogtard-ism and arrogance.

I guess the difference is our athletic department profits off the latter, and loses money off the former.

Didn't we already cover this? Yes, we deserve to be made fun of for our football t-shirts and DVDs just like you deserve to be made fun of for your basketball t-shirts and DVDs. Our football program was a ****ing laughing stock. It was garbage for a long time.

Jesus, Saul... when I said that was the point, you asked me what the point was. When I explained you what the point is, you go back to my original statement. Your basketball is improving at a greater rate than our football, that should make you feel a little better. Although your football isn't doing too hot either but maybe Old Balls can brig back the old glory days.

I guess I don't see the humor in making fun of a program for DVD's or banners, when there are much more entertaining things available at my disposable.

Thank man. I'm waiting for Saul to compile everything that can be used to make fun of KU onto a BR disc (hopefully it fits on just one) before I plunge into the brand new BluRay universe.
