Original thread. (http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=228603&highlight=HEROLYMPICS)

Bryan Mills and Ellen Ripley appear to have things sewn up in heat 8 as we enter the second half of round 1.

In heat 9, Steel (STEEL), Col. James Braddock (Missing In Action), El Mariachi (Desperado) and Paul Kersey (Death Wish) square off. I'm fairly certain this heat was just made for Chuck Norris and Charles Bronson to kick ass. I'd still like to know how they're going to take out a 7-foot-2 guy covered in STEEL.

By the way, I haven't seen any of these movies, but I did see Once Upon A Time In Mexico. I'm going to base my vote off youtube footage.

never even heard of STEEL. But I think it's safe to say that Chuck Norris will win this one.

Kersey deserves to win the whole competition. If you don't think so then you've never seen the Death Wish franchise. Step your movie game up.

Whoever nominated Steel should be ashamed. Not even as a joke.:shake:

If El Marriachi doesn't finish in the top 2 then I'll no longer trust CP when it comes to action heroes.

His guitar is a fucking gun. How cool is that? And he fucks Selma Hayek. None of those other scrubs fucked Selma Hayek. That instantly makes him the winner.

That's the great thing about the Herolympics. It's the people's choice.

If Paul Kersey is worth a shit, we'll know.

That's assuming that the people know what they are talking about. That said, the outcome of this competition will be substantially more valid in my eyes than the Smell competition from last month.

Charles Bronson IS the all-American action hero, or maybe I'm just getting old.

wow! Just about everything Cannon Pictures put out in the 90's (and we're usually Action Films) was horrible and yet funny, as you had previously stated, full agreement here.

It warms my 80's-Action-loving soul to see talk of the majesty of The Cannon Group. Menahem Golan and Yorum Globus (together forming the Golan-Globus Productions that led to The Cannon Group) were responsible for most of the best of 80's Action. No other producers were able to distill the very essence of a Reagan-led America like Golan & Globus - the films are filled to the brim with triumphant individualism, wanton violence used to solve every problem, severely inefficient government from the local level to the National level, the shared sense that women have their place and shouldn't be seen outside of it, and a total disparagement of anyone who isn't white because whiteness = Americanness. Jesus Christ in Acid-Washed Jeans, do I love 80's Action movies.
