Chiefs OTAs: Tony Moeaki Returns And A Round-Up Of The Injured Chiefs

http://cdn0.sbnation.com/profile_images/240996/headshot_tiny.jpg by Joel Thorman (http://www.sbnation.com/users/Joel%20Thorman) on Jun 7, 2010 2:39 PM PDT (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/6/7/1505976/chiefs-otas-tony-moeaki-returns) in 2010 Kansas City Chiefs Season (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/section/2010-campaign)

http://cdn0.sbnation.com/entry_photo_images/417531/64370_chiefs_mellow_haley_football.jpg (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/photos/chiefs-otas-tony-moeaki-returns)

New Chiefs (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/KAN) tight end Tony Moeaki (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/108522/Tony_Moeaki) returned to practice (http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/article-2/Insider-Blog-OTA-Report-10/270f1b56-1f4b-4310-a0f4-35313212bab3) this afternoon. Moeaki, the Chiefs third round pick, hadn't practiced this rookie minicamp at the beginning of May. He moved well at that minicamp so being held out of the next five weeks of OTAs was a bit of a surprise.

Haley indicated it wasn't a serious injury and his return today demonstrates that.

So what about the other guys Moeaki left in the "rehab zone"? Here's a rundown on the injured Chiefs:

http://cdn1.sbnation.com/images/blog/star-divide.v5547.jpg
WR Quinten Lawrence: He had a shoulder injury in 2009 (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/5/27/1490354/chiefs-wr-quinten-lawrence-played) that's kept him out of the majority of OTAs. He briefly returned last week. Haley has said this is more precautionary than anything.
WR Lance Long: We're not sure exactly what his injury is. He was healthy enough to attend an event on Sunday (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/6/6/1504327/photos-len-dawson-accepts-2010) honoring Len Dawson.
CB Brandon Flowers: He had a shoulder injury in 2009 that's keeping him out. This is precautionary. He says he's healthy and ready to roll. (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/5/20/1481043/brandon-flowers-says-hes-100-ready)
RB Jamaal Charles: Another shoulder injury from 2009 (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/1/17/1255799/shoulder-surgery-for-chiefs-rb). Like Flowers, this is precautionary and, like Flowers, he's said he's 100%.
TE Brad Cottam: He had a neck injury in 2009 that he's recovering from (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/1/21/1262806/chiefs-te-brad-cottam-continuing). He's improving but his exact status isn't known.
WR David Grimes: He pulled a hamstring a few weeks back. The injury doesn't sound serious. Certainly not a good thing for someone like Grimes to be hurt during this time.
QB Brodie Croyle: He's been doing some individual drills but not the team stuff over the last two weeks. He injured his finger throwing a ball (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/5/27/1490215/chiefs-otas-mccluster-bowe-look) but Haley says it's not a big deal.

So, Tony Moeaki caused a giant oil spill by sticking an eel up Gary Coleman's dead ass? Or am I off?

There was something in a Montana thread about a hypothetical scenerio where Cassel takes a hard hit from Jared Allen, and dislocates his shoulder. Then in comes Croyle and after a hard snap from the center, he also dislocates his shoulder. ROFL That one was awesome.

I wouldn't be all that shocked if that happened.

Why would you do that?

I mean, do you honestly expect any Walmart employee to actually know the answer to that question?

Who's going to miss more games this season. Moeaki or Cottam?

I think Cottam goes on the PUP and then IR in hopes of him playing next year.

Ill be surprised if he plays again.

I'll take some of that action on Iowaeaki. Cottam's neck injury concerns me.
What is the wager on 8+ games(not starting, playing time) this coming season?
Avatar for the offseason?

I think Pope will likely be the starter and have hope for the signing of a UFA TE whom I know and has had discussions with the team on some level.

More than willing to make a bet, but not in Early June.

If your boy is still in one piece in the pre-season, remind me, we'll talk.

FWIW, I love the kid's talent. I'm just concerned about his injury history and the fact we spent an extra pick to get him when we didn't need to.

Per Gretz: Practice report #10

Brodie Croyle threw a pass today to 3rd round tight end Tony Moeaki that resulted in both players dying. Chiefs training staff are stumped as to how to treat them in the rehab zone.
