If that frightens you then we could use couple of tons of ANFO instead.

Should have been done month ago. We are cowards.

Seriously, they might as well.

It would be amusing to see Greenpeace's reaction to it, though.

Torpedo that shit and then park a sub on it....wtf are we waiting for? For BP to fix it? Bull shit....! It's our coast not theirs so we need to take care of our coast.

I saw this in a Doctor Who episode. Man all that'll do is upset some underground dwelling lizard people and end up starting a war.

Jon Pertwee was amazing as the DR. Rented that movie a month ago from the library. The new Dr's suck especially the teen.

This. Only slightly worse that the "Let's throw junk into it and hope it plugs" plan....

Humans are fucking hopeless.......

Great idea if it was in the ground. I would wonder what something like that would do (nuclear blast) to the ocean floor. I would be concerned about an tsunami.....

I loved the fact that during the video, guys were checking for natural gas at the surface after the detonation. Doesn't work that way folks. Natural gas is lighter than air and will ALWAYS seek the path of least resistance. So it no longer spewed from the well, okay, that tells me that it took another path somewhere else........

This is crazy. I grew up during the Tom Baker years and he will always be one of my favorites, but David Tennant was amazing. Heck, he was voted best Doctor ever last year. Granted alot of the people voting probably never saw the old Doctors, but even old-timers were fans. The new Doctor, Matt Smith, is good too, and the writing has been superb this season.

You obviously believe BP. You're mistake. They tried this in Mexico's oil leak and it took 3 relief wells to plug up.

I would like them to build and weld a hydraulic ram to squeeze that pipe or force a cap onto that pipe.

I am a traditionalist. I like my Dr's to look like the originals. I don't want any teen heart throb Dr's.

The new teen doc? i could care less. just google it.

An actor in his late 20's that has been pretty good in the role so far.

It works.
Aboveground, perhaps, and only in extremely limited action. Now, anywhere from 5,000 to 18,000 feet below the surface of the ocean? The consequences could prove even more disastrous than the current spillage.

That video looks like it was made during the duck and cover era.

I think a few underwater detonation tests might have been made during the 50's at a few thousand feet but that was hardly in the fucking gulf near land.

Amazing.

Just fucking amazing.

From the initial concept, to even discussing it, to putting it out there to judge public reaction, to the internet devaluing it to a Dr. Who discourse.

Fucking utterly amazing.

Yes it is being devalued because there is absolutely NO FUCKING WAY this will be done.

Why not? Do you have any idea how many nukes we (and almost every other country besides Israel, who doesn't want people to know they have nukes, but kinda lets everyone know they have nukes just for the terror factor alone) have bombed the ocean with? The ocean was second only to Utah and Nevada Indian reservations in the amount of nukes exploded.
