Just plugged the HDMI cable into my laptop for my HDTV. I get video but no sound? I though both video and sound would go through HDMI in this scenario. Am I missing something here.

I know this worked on my last laptop.

check your sound settings to make sure that the sound is set to travel via HDMI as opposed to the soundcard through speakers

wot is your OS?

HDMI carries both video and sound

windows 7 is really good about plug and play video out like that

check to make sure it's plugged in securely
check windows settings for audio
is wire bad?

yeah, I was in that panel while hooked up. Do I have to change the default to HDMI or something. I had all of them active but the sound still only came out of my laptop speakers.

Same thing happened to me. I had to plug/unplug a few times before it worked.

Yep, setting it to default did the trick.

Is there anything more beautiful than a laptop that can play 1080p and has HDMI output?

Piracy rules.
