So that I can watch it tonight after work, simple really. I don't get to watch many Royals games, just when they play the White Sox.

That game last night was tough on the old ticker. Damn!

So, what happens to our rotation once Hoch and Meche come back?

I'm thinking..
Greinke
Chen
Hoch
Bannister

Meche is toast.
He's going to try to heal up or maybe get surgery on the Royals dime, then shoot for another fat contract somewhere else, go all Jeff Suppan on us.

Davies should be put on waivers. If not claimed, send him to Omaha. Bring him back in September when he usually can win again. History shows he's useless between now and Sept 1st.

I think this is your rotation after the All-Star Game:

Greinke
Bannister
Ho-Shaver
Crow
Chen/Lerew/other misc warm body

You should be made aware that Aaron Crow has been getting lit up at the AA level this year. He's been pretty bad.

I understand that train of thought and can say, Okay, this year is basically a lost cause already.

But why have other guys like Gordon and Kila in Omaha when there's old guys playing out their MLB string here in KC just to draw a check? Why not play these young guys, see what they've got, and whether they can hack it or not?

Trust "The Process."

Not to be confused with the "It's a process" mantra at 1 Arrowhead.

I agree 100% with you on Kila, and Gordon who knows maybe some time in AAA would help i feel like we have already tried to just let him play in the majors. However, with Crow even though he is an old rookie he is still a rookie I think you give him until Spring training or even all star break next year.

Throwing guys up to the majors before they are ready is a sure-fire way to ruin people. Baseball prospects typically need a lot of development. Eric Hosmer, say, is probably going to hack it just fine at the MLB level. But he certainly wouldn't if called up right now.

Eh, I could get all snooty and scream "PROFESSIONALISM", but that wasn't the point, really. The times I've listened to him and his sidekick (forgot his name), they sounded hung over and pissed off that they actually had to call a Royals game.

Not last night, he was just constantly whining about the strike zone being the size of a teacup for Behrle (sp?).
I can remember in years past, him talking about the proud Royals traditions and how good they used to be.
He made me actually kind of like him, all the while knowing I would stab Ed Farmer in the face if I ever ran into him.

I never heard Denny Mathews or Fred White say anything unprofessional about other teams that I recall.

I listened to a lot of games when the lowly Indians were the opponent, back when they were worse than the Royals are now, for about 50 years, and they still remained professional.

If you say the other team sucks, and they beat you, well that really makes your team look bad. If you beat them, you were supposed to. Make sense?

Because he's on a syndicated network and not everybody watching is a white sox fan. For years the only time you could watch a Royals game on TV outside of KC was when they played the white sox on WGN. Hawks cheerleading is unproffessional and annoying to put it mildly. The guy is a piece of shit who likes the sound of his own schtick.

Of course. But with well over a decade of futility under our belt, I'm having a very hard time generating outrage for another team's paid employee telling the truth, however crass it might seem.

Agreed, but it's all in the delivery. It's one thing to say how a team has struggled for X number of year, and another to outright scoff at them during a broadcast. For me, when I listened to those guys, it was more in the tone of their broadcast. Whenever the Royals made a play, you'd get a "How do you let that team DO that?" kind of a response.

That is true, and Hawk used to be great to listen to, for an opposing announcer.

He sounded like a whiny bitch last night, I lost all respect for him. Behrle (sp?) just plain sucked, and usually when a pitcher proves he can't hit the strike zone early, they don't get close calls. McDougal (sp?) used to get really fucked like that.

But I REALLY hate the White Sox, so he was on thin ice anyway.

You know how the Marlins play games in Puerto Rico... What we should do is arrange for the team to play it's home games in northern Alaska when Bannister starts. That way it's always daylight outside.

On that note, has anyone actually checked Bannister's birth certificate? I mean, we know he's from earth right? Here we have this pitcher that is ridiculously smart, knows what's going on everywhere, and obtains his power from our planet's yellow sun. Is it possible he is a survivor from the planet Krypton?

That's the difference between Billy and somebody like Jim Thome. Thome hits that ball to Pluto. Billy flies out to the warning track. He needs a little more muscle and about 25 more feet on those shots.

They are different batters. Butler is big but he's a contact hitter. He's going to end up being a lot more like [healthy] Mike Sweeney than Jim Thome. Which is fine, of course; he just needs a guy like Moustakas (or Hell, even Alex Gordon) as lineup protection.

Dude was one of the better right-handed hitters of the decade. It was a great move to sign him long-term. It is a cosmic shame that he caught the major injury bug after signing a long-term deal but that doesn't diminish how great a hitter he was when healthy. He didn't steal anything; it was really unfortunate what happened with his health (from the standpoint of the club, the fans, and of Mike Sweeney - who is a great man who still gives to the KC community).

Sweeney was a hell of a hitter when he was healthy. He earned that money he got and probably would've had some rock solid years for us if it wasnt for the injury. He's probably got the hate cause he was the face of a losing royals team.
