...so browsing the internetz, listening to iTunes etc......I was greeted with the gem that is "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins.

at first I didn't realize it was playing through my ear buds...then next thing you know I was working at a furiuous pace; 100% motivated to ...'complete' whatever it was I was working on.

As my wife walked by, with my laptop on my...well, lap, I let her know for the remainder of the evening she could (..and, honstely, 'should') refer to me as "Maverick".

The look I recieved from her was the same as the one she gave when she first noticed Kelly McGilliis' black eyebrows and blonde hair. She had the look of "WTF"?.

She says I'm crazy, I say "Bullshit", ...."Mission Accomplished". I advised she could be my wingman 'anytime'....her response was "I'm going to bed". Obviosuly she doesn't need, or appreciate the need for a wingman.

I love you Kenny Loggins.

Absolutely not. :D

I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

LMAO Sry, couldn't resist.

Indeed, Ghostrider. Indeed.

If top gun did anything, it depicted fighter pilots (or pilots in general) perfectly. when I arrived at my F/A-18 squadron I was immediately associating the newly introduced pilots to their cinematic counerparts.

quickly identifying who was "Maverick" and who was "Iceman". In an obvious effort to avoid any blood-letting.

although I never found a "Sundown" in my squadron (or any other for that matter)

imagine that.

they were so 'cool' in fact, that once as we were roaming the streets of Tasmania looking for 'companionship', we encountered a 'gaggle' of pilots in the streets of Hobart.....upon our 'intercept', they informed us they were on there way to someplace else...and therefore needed us to take custody of their bottle of Patron Anejo.

I'll agree with that for the most part, the early 80s were ok, but most of what was good about that was stuff that originated in the 70s. The second half of the decade was terrible...hair metal...MTV...Michael Jackson...Duran Duran...good god just put a bullet into my temple.

the mid to late 70's rocked; even though I was an embryo in '77, by the time I was 7 years old etc, I was playing my brother's records of VH1, VHII, VHFW, AC/DC, LZ II and Houses of the Holy on their stereo systems.

by the time I aquired funds t buy my own music I was like "WTF"?f! when I tried to buy cool music. the only thing I could find was ( at the time it seemed) Paula abdul sh*(t etc.

The TOP GUN SOUNDTRACK has to be the best driving album ever.

First, when I get in the car, leave the parking lot, and drive through the neighborhood, I listen to the TOP GUN ANTHEM.

As soon as I turn the corner from the stoplight and hit the onramp, I slam on the gas and hear the turbo spool whistle. Immediately I change the track to DANGER ZONE.

After that song is over and I'm cruising 80 on I-30, it's time for some cruising music. It's time for MIGHTY WINGS.

If I ever get road head, which is unlikely, I'll play TAKE MY BREATH AWAY.
