We owe that bastard Saunders for last year's Greinke game. That was shameful. I was there and consider that series the beginning of the end last year.

Friday night...Guillen gives up the inside the park HR to Kendrick on a fly ball.
Saturday night...Saunders outdueled Greinke.
Sunday afternoon...Hunter robs Olivo of HR in 9th.

Have I mentioned I HATE the Angels?

Yeah they massively overpaid...and offered him a much better situation to play on a competitive team in a big market. I don't blame anyone in that situation other than that POS Artie Moreno. I hate the Angels. I've said that, right?

07-02-2010, 09:34 PM
Why on earth would we trade DDJ?

Because his glove is sub-par in CF, and we don't need a corner outfielder who maxes out at 13 HRs.

If we can get a strong return, NOT trading DeJesus will be dumb as fuck, just as it was stupid as hell not to trade Meche last year.

And I'd still look to move Soria.

What would you consider to be appropriate return for him? I've heard his name affiliated with the Giants and Rays. What would you take...minimum?

We need two high-quality prospects. These would likely be guys in AA right now. You want players whom you believe have a higher ceiling than DeJesus.

Doesn't mean they'll pan out. But you sure as fuck don't want to hear the words "ML ready" when discussing parameters because that's how you get the Bucks and Teahens of the world.

Awesome! Just got back from softball and watched the game. When's the last time we were down to our last strike and won? That was awesome. Great call by Yost to sub in Bloomy and get the steal...and Callaspo made an amazing play! They said on the Angels network that he's the #1 3rd baseman defensively in the AL. And then Bloomy made 'em pay on the other side.

Guys, it's just one win but we never win games like this.

BTW, did I mention how much I hate the Angels? LMAO at every one of you yuppies.

You've been Mexicuted.

Wow, that turned out to be quite a nice little win.

I am not a fan of Jason Kendall. But that play in 8th may have just brought me around.

This week the team had a loser player point out how he respects the way the Twins play. That player himself has never displayed himself as anything more than a sulky, overpaid underperformer.

Yet Kendall showed by his actions in the 8th just how a leader performs even when you're ten games under the level. And I hope Kendall took Wood aside and said "If you ever give that kind of effort again, I'll beat your ass".

Jason Kendall has a new fan. (For now)

This team would be contending right now if the pen had been in order to start the season. If five of those epic, early-season bullpen meltdowns were wins we'd be in first place right now. I think it's ironic that as of now this team plays the way barnyard hillman envisioned and that it started to do so the DAY he was relieved.

It was a gritty, hard-nosed play, and I don't think any sensible person would argue that these traits do not describe Jason Kendall.

But let's not get crazy here. We're still talking about a player who is a marginal defender (at best) and the closest thing this side of Yuni of being an automatic out at the plate.

he will at least try to ground out to the right side with a runner at second and nobody out. So there's that.

Toughness won't improve Yuni's range to his left or his zone judgment, unfortunately. I understand your larger point, but Betancourt's suck overshadows it, IMO.

Maybe I'm wrong...

CaliforniaChief
07-03-2010, 01:28 PM
It's been pointed out in this thread, but the inconsistency is what gets me about the guy. In last night's game, he makes a great play to his right to throw a guy out and then stumbles over one that was not even half as hard, costing us a run. On offense he pops out on a dirtball late in the game with nobody out and a runner on first, and then proceeds to set up the winning run with a nice streamer to the opposite field.

He's very lackadaisical and yes his range sucks, but i think some iof it is his true effort. Either way i cant wait till he is gone. I really miss the days of a competent SS. I just think he doesn't go all out really except when he feels like it, which makes him the worst SS in the league
