So there I was, a liberal in the morning, reading my newspaper and sipping my oolong tea (a unique mountain climate gives this rare tea its astonishing character), wearing my adult diaper (necessary for my constant butthurtedness), and the Daily Kos burning up my RSS feed.
When I start reading about a nasty group in Somalia called "al Shabaab," which is a terrorist organization trying to conquer the African country, and has set off its first major international attack in neighboring Uganda.
Sad, thought I. I didn't even know Somalia had a UN-backed government, but apparently they do.
And I moved on.
At least I thought, until I saw this headline on CNN.com:
Somali militants ready to terrorize world?

Well, shit. Here we go.
The deadly bombings in Uganda's capital may have heralded a chilling new chapter in the history of a Somali Islamist group with links to al Qaeda.
God damn it. Can we please not do this again.
Al Shabaab, meaning "the youth" in Arabic, advocates the strict, often brutal, Saudi Arabian-inspired Wahhabi interpretation of Islam.
I know. And it's probably engaging in an insurgency in Somalia, right?
While most of the ICU's leaders fled, al Shabaab fighters under leader Ahmed Abdi Godane remained behind to wage a guerilla-style war against the invading force.
That's what I thought.
In March last year bin Laden issued a statement calling for Muslims everywhere to "help the Somali mujahedeen fight until Somalia is an Islamic state."
Yup.

According to the transitional administration in Mogadishu the burgeoning relationship with al Qaeda led to an influx of militant fighters from abroad.
OKAY I GET IT.
Senior African Union military figures say the signs of al Qaeda's hand in the fighting are visible through the use of Improvised Explosive Devices, or IEDs, and suicide bombings.
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
*pant*
*pant*
*pant*
Well, I guess it doesn't matter. We'll fight "terror" in the Middle East because we are that retarded. But surely we're not retarded enough to fight in Africa.
In March, the New York Times reported that the U.S. had become so concerned with the group's activities across Somalia and in Yemen, across the Gulf of Aden, that they were giving direct military support to the Transional Federal Government. This was strongly denied in Washington.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME.
WILL THIS SHIT NEVER END...
