The Kansas City Chiefs have hammered out a four-year, $1.98 million contract with fifth-round rookie linebacker Cameron Sheffield, according to a league source.
Like fellow Chiefs rookie Kendrick Lewis' deal, Sheffield received a roster bonus instead of a signing bonus.
The bonus is slightly over $194,000.
The deal includes a fourth-year escalator clause that can significantly boost the maximum value of the deal.
A converted defensive end from Troy University, Sheffield registered 163 career tackles and 15 sacks.
The 6-foot-2, 257--pounder played in the Senior Bowl all-star game.
He was twice named All-Sun Belt Conference.
