#9: Kansas City Chiefs

St. Joseph, MO

Average Aug. temps: 10th
Average Aug. highs: 10th
Average Aug. 90s: 8th
Total heat ranking: 9th

After a 20-year stint holding training camp 400 miles north of Kansas City in River Falls, WI, the Kansas City Chiefs begin their first camp just over an hour up I-29 in St. Joseph, MO at the campus of Missouri Western University.

If the heat and humidity of August in Missouri become overwhelming, the club can now move into a 120-yard new climate-controlled field, something they didn't have in River Falls, WI.

They may have to utilize that facility often. In St. Joseph, 11 days of 90+ heat are the norm each August, compared to just 2 days in River Falls, WI. Central Plains heat waves can send the mercury over the century mark.

Working in the heat, to some extent, may help the Chiefs. Four September days in the 90s can be expected, on average, in Kansas City.

Keep them hydrated and it won't be an issue.

Will help them with conditioning and burn more fat. Hopefully none of them die.
