seriously, to the five that voted for tommy (who was admittedly a great villain), what's his appeal over lecter? lecter was pure fucking evil--it's too bad it's not the lecter from the books, who was twice as bad as the movie lecter.

Lecter's evil could be his own undoing.

While Lecter's trying to hatch some plot to torture Tommy, Tommy would just go in there with a pipe and beat him to death.

It's the wild-card nature and sheer unpredictability of Tommy that earned him my vote. And as far as 'pure evil' goes - don't underestimate the guy. He killed his friends and allies just to cover his ass. He killed a bartender that he'd already accidently shot because the kid had the audacity to be pissed about getting shot. Tommy was a complete psycopath, in much the same vein as Lecter.

Tommy's just being undersold in this round.

highly possible I guess. however, I have to hold tommy's death against him. while both characters have been in situations that brought them close to death, tommy trusted that he wasn't being double crossed and got shot. lecter somehow escaped from the wild death boars who were bred to eat him alive.

I guess this could be construed as moving the goalposts--unintentional, but I can't see tommy standing up to lecter in any way, shape or form.
