I honestly was wondering if TJ would fill the Ronnie Brown role. Yes, he's less agile... but can still pound it or hand off....

It will be interesting because there's a serious potential for success with Dex and JC on board.

I don't see this as something Haley and Wies would run on a regular basis like Miami does. I'm fine if they do break it out occasionally though.

Damn you, Charlie.

Part of the reason I was happy with the Weis hire is that I thought he'd steer clear of gimmicks like the Wildcat.

Complete waste of time. It's bad enough that we have a QB that doesn't know what to do with the ball, now we're going to ask RB's and WR's to make decisions on where the ball goes.

In our case, it should be easy for opposing defenses to stop, because there will be no concerns about the ball being thrown.

Heh, that went over real well vs. Oakland at home last year. Remember that? They ran a funky wildcat formation with that Ex Virginia QB for about three plays. Went over like a turd in the punchbowl.

Well, we wouldn't run the WC the entire game, I'd imagine. Second thing to consider, is that we should have a very easy time running the ball this season based on our competition, so why not mix up the rushing attack to throw Defenses off?

Let's say TJ fakes a hand off to JC, and then pitches out to Dex around the side.... Before the snap, the Defense is looking at three viable rushing options. Maybe TJ plunges forward? Maybe he hands to JC or Dex up the gut with the other throwing a block as a mini fullback? Maybe one of our waterbugs shoots out to either side? Maybe they dump it for a five yard Tebow toss to Moeaki?

Possibilities are endless, and I say why not mix it up?

While we're at it, let's make sure to tell Bowe to "go deep" and tell Chambers to "run an out route to the 3rd mailbox" and Dexter can hit one of them after a triple reverse.

That's the thing. The "rest of the league" doesn't follow suit.

Just the shitty teams that lack the talent (QB)to run a traditional offense.

But I would say, you have me beat... I dont even think I hate the Broncos and Raiders as much as you just totally wish evil hate on everything Chiefs football...

Yep, I hate everything, jackhole.

That's why I was defending Brandon Carr to the hilt last week.

That's why I praised Pioli for taking Berry. And getting all of our picks to camp on time. (basically)

That's why I defend Glenn Dorsey because I think he's getting, and has been mis-used.

That's why I defend Bowe and this ridiculous bullshit about his drops.

That's why I'm spending a lot of money to travel to KC for MNF.

I could go on, but you get the point, though you'll be right back at harping on it next week.

The Wildcat is a stupid idea. Period. Doesn't mean I hate the team.

the wildcat - in the nfl - is a gimmick...you run it because you don't have a drop back passer you trust....

you haven't, and won't, see a superbowl quality teaming spending much time on the wildcat...because it takes what should be your best and most important player - your QB - out of the offense....

I hate to see gimmicky shit like this. It's stupid to waste practice time on it. 4-5 Wildcat formation snaps in an entire season I can understand. But don't bother devoting practice time to it. Sheesh.

If we had a QB who could accurately throw, this wouldn't even be talked about...

And yet the Dolphins are the only ones who really get much use out of it. It's a gimmick that everyone wants to try and yet no one really has any notable success with. I'd rather they left this wildcat shit to the Dolphins.

I answered that question:

By unacceptable I mean that the organization needs to start making plans for a replacement. I realize that isn't going to happen this year.

If he doesn't dramatically increase his sack numbers and/or improve dramatically against the run, he doesn't deserve a starting position, IMO. If you aspire to be a championship team, you can't have players that are liabilities in 2/3 of his responsibilities.

I'm pissed the Chiefs suddenly decided to go unconventional after firing, by far, the best OC in the league at lulling you in/making the D commit/BOOM trickeration (thanks forever to "W" for that'n) for a TD! We had nothing outside of a talented (when he could catch) WR, LJ (remember, this is going INTO last season,) and a brand new QB.

But, what'd done is done. Our OC and DC are both unconventional (which I think kicks major ass) and this whole team, IMHO, will look completely different come game 3 or 4 or 5 once the kinks are worked out.

I don't think there will be any semblance of the "Haley Year" offense at all...

That's pretty much the point of it all. It's good in moderation. Like 1 or 2 snaps a game.

I don't like the wildcat either. It's effectiveness decreased rapidly from 2008 to 2009. But if we can use a play here and there, I have no problem.

I watched the 2009 Ole Miss/Tennessee game replay a while back. McCluster ran 4 or 5 plays out of the "Wildcat" formation. Good things happened on damn near everyone of them as well. To not have that option as part of our package on offense would be a huge mistake IMO.

Here is a link that shows some highlights of that game including 3 DMC TD runs... 2 of which came out of the Wildcat.
