Do the Giants still own his rights or is he a free agent?

Why do you ask?

This franchise, under the the direction of Scott Pioli puts a high premium on character, so if you ask because you think we should sign him, then you might as well give up that pipe dream right now.

Yeah, on talent alone, most of us would.

But to get Scott Pioli to take a look at him, he'd have to put a gun to his head.

I wonder if the league will impose a further suspension? I'm guessing no. He did the crime and served the time. But with Goodell it's anyone's guess.

Let me clarify. I know there's not a snowballs chance in hell of it happening. However, I think the guy is as talented as anyone in the league and I'd like to have him on my team. Did he screw up? Obviously, he shot himself in the effing leg. That being said, I think he got bent over by having to serve time. They wanted to make an example of him and he should have gotten a better attorney. In my opinion what he did isn't as bad as half the other degenerates** who manage to not only stay out of jail, but somehow stay on the field. I would be willing to bet that Plaxico stays out of trouble for the remainder of his career should he be lucky enough to still have one.

**Vick (did his time, still a f*ck up), Pacman Jones, Leonard Little, Donte Stallworth, Roethlisburger, Santonio Holmes, Larry Johnson, etc. etc. etc.

Not even close to the same situation. Randy Moss was coming to a Championship caliber team with a strong locker room.

I think i would agree with everything you said here. But its highly doubtful Pioli would sign him. Im not even sure when he gets out?

Two teams interested in Plaxico? -- Mon Nov 29 4:00 am --

Jailed WR hoping to return in 2011
Plaxico Burress isn't due out of prison for another 6-1/2 months, but his agent says the NFL is already calling. Burress' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN that he's "very confident that Plaxico will be playing next season in the NFL." In fact, he said two teams had stayed in contact with him about his client. (Daily News)

FF Today's Take: Keeper and dynasty league owners should keep Burress on the radar. He may become a cheap option for teams looking for receiving help next season and his height makes him a dangerous red zone target in any offense.

Well, technically it would be wrong to call him a "free" agent.

Id love for the Chiefs to snag him. Remember how clutch he was during the Giants playoff run in 2007?

prison did wonders for michael vick, and this offense would be dangerous if we have a legitimate target opposite Bowe. Burress could fill in and contribute right away.

My biggest hope for Plex is that he would add another high quality WR to the FA pool. The more talent out there, the better. We need a WR, and I don't want to have to compete with 10 teams for 1 player. It could also lower the trade value if Fitzgerald if teams could sign Plex instead.

I am sure Burress is miles away from any kind of playing shape. How old is he anyway?

I'm not sure what character issue you're talking about? Was Plaxico disruptive in the lockerroom or was he a me-first player? If so, I agree with you. If it's just the illegal firearm charge, I think KC would be a great place for him since our gun laws would allow him to carry legally.

If Plax comes back and lights it up the way Vick has, jail will be the trendy new starmaker. High school recruits will forget about college; 3 years in the can and they'll emerge as instant Pro Bowlers. Plus, they wouldn't have to pretend to care about going to class.

What I'm saying is, if Cassel is really going to turn into a star, he better kill some dogs STAT.

That's true. After all, Cassel put up a bunch of hollow points against Denver, and Pioli stuck by him.

except for the fact that he's a felon which would make him ineligible for conceal and carry I believe

The guy is 33 years old and will be 34 before the season starts next year.

Beside the fact that in no way, shape or form does he fit "The Profile", I doubt that at that age he'll make much of an impact, anywhere, after missing two years.

Marcellus

Before shooting himself I believe he was also missing practice and being an all around trouble maker with the Giants.

If I recall correctly he didn't go to practice because he didn't have a babysitter and didn't bother calling the coaches or anything.

Saul Good

Burress is a fit for a team that doesn't want to wait to rebuild and just wants to reload.
