The Kansas City Chiefs players caught a break today. Head coach Todd Haley called off practice that was scheduled at 8:50 this morning in favor of a team-building exercise.

Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star reports that the players were boarding a bus this morning for some sort of "team-building".

Coaches have done stuff like this in the past. Usually they'll go bowling or see a movie together. It's a team-building thing but it's also a break for the players if the coach thinks they've deserved it.

We'll find out at some point what they're doing today.

Lol you classified this as science?

Also, this seems rather odd for Haley unless he's taking them to a military bootcamp or something.

Hopefully they will put all the good players on one bus and the shitty players on the other and drive the shitty bus into the river.

If they saw a movie wonder what it would be?

Given the offensive line play maybe "Dinner for Schmucks" or "The Blind Side".

The first bus would actually be a two person coupe, with Colquitt driving and Succup sitting shotgun, about to get kicked out.

Yeah, well that sounds nice, but it's not like a potential franchise QB was available or anything....

I picture Flowers and Charles tying a two-person ski-rope to the hitch and rollerblading behind it.

They should have had a symbolism day and taken them to TERRIBLES in honor of how they've played the past 4 seasons and let them lose all of their money at craps, so they know what it's like for fans who pay to attend the games.

Movie Reviews from the Kansas City Chiefs

Two-a-days turned into a one-a-day in St. Joe on Monday. The players ate breakfast, taped up, threw on the pads and went outside for a morning practice like always, but their head coach threw a curveball.

Once the players arrived outdoors for practice, Todd Haley called the team up and announced that the squad would be doing something together as a team. That something ended up being a morning spent at the Hollywood Theaters in northern St. Joseph.

“They have been working hard in tough conditions with pads on in 18 out of 20 days,” Haley said. “That’s a lot of days in pads in some difficult conditions, which we need, and it’s one of the reasons why I feel like we’re making progress.”

A pair of charter buses took the team to the theaters this morning, where each player had a choice from several movies to see.

“I saw The Other Guys,” LB Derrick Johnson said. “It was pretty funny. I didn’t’ make it through the whole movie though. I knew that I would fall asleep some time in there with the dark setting and comfortable seats. I knew that I wouldn’t make it through.”

Sleeping seemed to be one of the common themes among players in the theatre. Haley also chose to see Will Ferrell’s new movie.

“I could only hear portions of it because Shaun Smith was one row behind me snoring louder than I’ve ever heard a human being snore.” Haley said.

While it was a bit disappointing to hear that none of the players chose to see Eat Pray Love or Step Up 3D, punter Dustin Colquitt did hand out his widely respected movie critique of Dinner for Schmucks.

“It was a good movie; 3.5 stars out of 4,” Colquitt said. “It was funny.”

The team will return for an actual practice this afternoon at 4:30 PM.

Chiefs Sign New Quarterback?

Rumors were swirling when a few members of the media saw a fourth quarterback walk from the practice field this morning wearing jersey #9. With Brodie Croyle not dressed in full pads, speculation that the club had brought back former #9, Matt Gutierrez, began to grow.

It turns out that the man wearing #9 was the victim of a practical joke, and not a new signal caller.

“Once we figured out what we were doing this morning, we had a good practical joke and figured that it was also the time for that,” Haley explained. “(Offensive Quality) Coach Nick Sirianni, we somehow convinced him that he was actually going to be in practice; and somehow he believed us. He actually put the entire uniform on, so it was good.”

The team never took a snap this morning, but Sirianni drew plenty of laughs anyway.
