You're reading it wrong. We have a #2 and a #3, but no #1.

There would be many here rejoicing if that actually happened.... anything to see the Chiefs struggle or fail is about the only thing that makes them happy.

Palko is probably listed as the "emergency QB" and won't count against the 45 man game day roster.

He has to on the 53 man roster in order to be the "emergency QB".

Yes, I believe he can be listed as one of the inactives for the day but he must be on the 53, not the PS.

Would you really want Palko being qb right now even if we don't have one? I wouldn't

This really shouldn't even be questioned because I've read on Chiefsplanet this week that San Diego's defense is on par with the Chiefs defense.

That being the case, I doubt they'll even be able to tackle our WR's and RB's, let alone sack the QB.

I think what he probably meant is that Palko may be serving the role of 3rd QB on the practice squad. The 'emergency QB' for the active 45 is often not even a QB; it's not unusual to only have two QBs active on gameday.

you can't bring practice squad guys on the active game day roster unless you make the transaction of putting them on the actual 53 man roster prior to the final week transaction notice. So if Palko is on the practice squad, he can't be the emergency anything, suit up or even be listed as an inactive player without having to make a roster transaction and cut someone on the 53 man team, to make a space for him and bring him up.

So he's actually almost useless in this situation.

I thought that as well, but I read some ambiguous posts to the contrary... I will defer to your thoughts on this though .. if that is the case, I assume it will be Thomas Jones

Thomas Gafford is the emergency QB. At least that's what I heard on the radio the other day.

Just for confirmation:

However, practice squad players can't be called up during a game, so if any of those teams loses both quarterbacks on the same day, it will have to get creative, putting a non-quarterback under center and hoping he doesn't embarrass himself.

Although, I would love for us to sign a developmental QB with some upside, if the worst happens this Monday and both Cassel and Croyle get hurt, is it really going to matter who the #3 QB is? Might as well just run wildcat rest of the game.

Croyle doesn't always need to be sacked in order to be hurt.

Wildcat all day. McCluster threw a few times at Ole Miss. It was never pretty, but still....Eric Berry could be our triple option threat like Nesbitt at GT.
