not really, i don't hate Gonzo. Just perception vs reality imo

Was Gonzo a good guy?

Yes, for all that i know he didn't go around getting busted for crack or whatever. He took care of his kid and even eventually married his baby momma.

Was Gonzo a good guy to KC fans?

not particularly. He didn't go around telling them to fuck off but he didn't exactly go out of his way to be nice either. Only usually signed autographs when he had to and even then it was "last one in, first one out" type of situation.

Was Gonzo loyal to KC?

nope, didn't live here ... stayed in Cali. Didn't marry a girl from here, cali again. When he started a business, he started it in Cali not KC(as far as i know).

reality

Gonzo was a paid employee who did a very good job and was paid handsomely for his efforts. No more,no less.

now he's no longer employed here

Awesome milestone for him. Wish he did it with the Chiefs but I'm happy for him just the same.

Congratz to Gonzo!! I don't live in Missouri, so maybe my perspective is different, but I met Tony G and Donnie E when they were Chiefs playing in SD, and he was really cool to me. Got autographs from both. All good memories about Gonzo, wish he were still a
Chief.

Wonderful milestone to soothe the enduring fact he's never won a playoff game, and his team lost today.

This.

The main perception of Tony being a good guy came via a united way ad where someone egged him. Everything else I've ever heard was he wasn't too friendly.

I've got to change my username one of these days. I was about to drop the neg-rep hammer on half of you fuckers.
:D
Maybe make it a contest? I'm taking ideas here.

Edit: just FYI, he was my favorite player for a long time. I always loved his passion and the guy was just nails. I was pretty damn upset when he was traded.

Yup, it would be fun to see how many of his records were set in losses.

and in truly gonzalez-like fashion, it came in a losing effort (to a team without its starting QB). yep, same ol' gonzo. stats aplenty, no true contribution to a winner.

So Jim Mora says during the broadcast yesterday "Tony Gonzalez is not known as a good blocker"... might explain why his azz is in the booth instead of on the sidelines.

I caught that too. I sat there with a puzzled look and asked myself, "What the fuck...?"

Congrats.

That said, judging solely from the stat line yesterday and last year, he's not the player he was in KC.

TG wasn't known as a good blocker. Though his blocking improved and he wasn't terrible at it. But he wasn't good at it either.

He's a pass catching TE, this is the obvious.
