Roaf and Vermeil deserve it.

Roaf is one of the greatest LTs of all time, and Vermeil took two teams in two different conferences in different eras to SBs, won one, and took another team to the playoffs. He was also the first ST coach, IIRC.

Faulk should get in. Deion Sanders, too. I would vote for Curtis Martin and Andre Reed, as well.

I had forgotten that Beathard started with the Chiefs. I always think he started with the Dolphins.

Faulk was the best player I have ever seen. Setting up blocks, catching, blocking. man he was good

Lots of worthy names on that list...and some that IMO aren't worthy at all.

Who I'd pick:

Tim Brown - even though he's a raider, still great.
Marshall Faulk - such a great player
Willie Roaf - Christ, it's been 5 years?
Paul Tagliabue - did more for the game than you know
Deion Sanders - best CB and return man for a very long time

Hated Tagliabue. So did owners and the players.

I think Roaf will get in this year but it'll be a few years before Vermeil's inducted.

I can't believe that Dan Reeves isn't in the HOF. He played in two Super Bowls and coached in four, with two different teams.

Don Coryell should absolutely be in the HOF. He changed the game.

Dan Reeves does too. Nobody in NFL history has been to more SB's than Reeves.

Sharpe and Atwater. Not TD yet.

I would give it to Chris Carter and Tim Brown asap.

It's hard to believe that Roaf has been gone that long. It seems like just yesterday that I curled up on the floor of my office and wept when I heard he was retiring.

And I say this every year, but how does six-time pro bowler Deron Cherry get passed over every year even in the earliest stages? He's the perfect NFL success story moving from free-agent punter to pro bowl safety to minority team owner. He's just what the NFL and the public love.

How is Cris Carter not getting any mentions?

The only Patriot move of the Kraft era that they never made up for was the mistake of letting Curtis Martin go. He was a Hall of Famer from Day 1 and outside of one year of Corey Dillon in 2004 they've never had a consistant force in the backfield since.

The class that SHOULD be in is:

Joe Jacoby
Kenny Easley
Cris Carter
Albert Lewis
Willie Roaf
Kevin Greene

The class that WILL get in this year is:

Andre Reed
Deion Sanders
Bud Adams
Marshall Faulk
Jimmy Johnson
Richard Dent

Because as we all know, it's not about skill, it's about whether they're currently on TV.

On the old-timer's committee, I hope Ole Haugsrud gets it. For some reason, I'm a fan of the Duluth Eskimos.

How is Cris Carter not getting any mentions?

There's a strong block of voters who think the modern era WR's stats are overinflated. Plus, he doest have any hardware so that doesn't help his cause.

I think Carter's bigger problem is the whole drug deal early in his career. While he straightened himself out, I suspect that there's a bloc of voters who don't like him because of that. Otherwise, he's a no-brainer, because even in the inflated receiver era he's a standout.

I think he is worthy... just not over Tim Brown and I doubt you get 2 modern era WRs in the same class.
