Jets' WR Braylon Edwards busted in DWI

Jets' wide receiver Braylon Edwards was busted on a drunken driving charge early this morning, after cops pulled him over on the West Side and found he had double the legal limit of alcohol in his system, police said.

Edwards, 27, was arrested at 5:15 a.m. and charged with DWI, after cops pulled over his Range Rover at 34th Street and 12th Avenue for having overly-tinted windows. Police said they smelled alcohol and Edwards blew a 0.16 on a Breathalyzer, or double the state's legal limit of 0.08.

A passenger was with Edwards but it doesn't appear they were charged. Edwards is currently in police custody, and will be arraigned later today.

It isn't the first time Edwards has run afoul of the law. In October, just before he was traded to the Jets from the Browns, Edwards punched a friend of LeBron James outside a Cleveland nightclub.

Edwards settled the case by pleading no contest to aggravated assault. He received a suspended 180-day jail sentence, and was fined $1,000 and placed on probation.

James called the attack "childish."

I had a friend get pulled over for this issue. Turns out the law changed and now the tint she had put on is too dark. I would think there has to be some form of grandfathering in vehicles that already have the tint in place before you change the law. Tint is damn near a necessity here in Texas!

Oh and btw, she is hispanic, not black. :)

I don't know if you realize this, but many white people tint their windows as well. I used to be a designated driver. I am sure it is like this in most well known party districts, but they would look for ANY reason to pull someone over. White or black. The reality is that they knew there was a 50/50 shot at getting a DUI arrest.

I would get pulled over, and I am white and wore a bright orange jacket that was known in the area as designated driver.

Tinted windows are an excuse to pull someone over, but it doesn't mean it was racial like you were saying before. If there's a bunch of clubs in the area and a guy is leaving at 5:15 AM there's a reasonable chance he's drunk, black or white. And if you're dumb enough to leave a club drunk in Manhattan at 5:15 AM then don't bother crying about being targeted.
I guess Chris Simms was racially profiled earlier this year, too when he got pulled over in Manhattan.

Have to agree w/ you there, and different people will drive differently when they have had a few. Some people at .12 they drive like crazy without concern for others. Others realize they may be impaired and they be extra careful. Booze obviously limits your physical coordination, but it also affects your inhibitions causing some people to be crazy and not give a f*ck about anyone or anything. Not that you should drive while impaired, but not all people are going to plow through a red light at 70 mph while they are intoxicated even at the same BAC level. Alot of them yes, which is why they have a limit set for everyone.

You're either a 100 pound woman, or are really bad at math.

Edwards is listed at 215.

To reach .08 in 2 drinks, he would have had to thrown them back in 15 minutes.

Edwards blew a .16. at 5:00am

He likely had 11-12 drinks over a 4-5 hour timeframe to hit that mark.

You just have to get to the point where you won't drink and drive for the most part and if you do check your vehical to make sure everything is working and you won't get pulled over. Up in Oregon where my fam is there is only one show in town so if you are going there you just get a cab home. Cops are all over that place like white on rice.

You can't really make blanket statements like that. It depends what you've had to eat, your tolerance, sex, etc and many other issues. Back when I was in college a guy I know had a breathalyzer on his vehicle to start it. I had only 3-4 beers and his car wouldn't start. Here's the deal. If I am going to go out and get hammered (I never do anymore) then I can see getting a cab. My problem is I probably drink just enough to get right around the limit. By the time you add up the cost of eating out if I have to add cab fares to that tab both ways I will just stay home. I need to have a breathalyzer available so I don't go over which I am sure is the mass majority of the time. Where I am about to move to it won't be an issue.

I'm guessing is his answer is gonna be, "Don't drink".

Half of fine dining is the wine.

wasn't saying that's MY answer, just what I expect his is. Mine appears to be the same as yours (and most others, I expect), know your limits and stay within them.

Nope. I'm cool with drinking. Drinking isn't the problem.

I am moving just outside a really small town that has two awesome restaurants. People drive from all over to go there. George Bush stayed there once. If you are local they will take you home because everything is a rocks throw away there.

Funny, I just did a drink calculator. 2 hour dinner with a cocktail and some wine puts me right at .08 LMAO Naturally. Problem is I planned on dumping another 10 pounds just for the heck of it.

Edwards got a taunting penalty on his first TD Sunday, then came really, really close to another one on his 2nd TD.

Maybe the Patriot DBs should all go over and dance in his driveway when he gets home from the slammer....

I said it before when the Jets traded for Santonio Holmes. This team is taking the arrogant route of pretending character doesn't matter. I can understand not making character the be all end all. But a team that has reckless disregard for it is going to get burned. Fuck the Jets. They deserve this.

If this was posted, I didn't see it. But D'Brickashaw and Gholston were in the car with Edwards when he got pulled over.

Also, apparently Edwards lawyer said that his Braylon hadn't slept in two days. Go figure.

The Jets offer all their players...lol..get this...bwahahahaha! free car services..aka rides if they're intoxicated. this makes Edwards move even dumber. AND..there were two other dumbass Jet players in the car that let him drive.

What a great example he's setting for his teammates..LOL!

There was no way those cops were gonna fuck with Gholston. He would have flossed his teeth with their spinal columns.

couple that with past mistakes of his friend, Stallworth (he was even drinking with him that night) and he is a complete dumbass. You have the money to take a cab, you have the free car service, why drink and drive?

What a stupid POS

The Jets set him for a quarter as punishment. First play he makes after he's allowed back in the game in tries to walk the football up his arm in celebration. THen latter scores a TD taunts the defender and dances in the endzone.

People rail on Vick after he paid his debt to society(which is rarer than a unicorn for a spoiled athelete to get punished) while not so much a pep about this waste of skin.

Edwards used bad judgement and should have taken a cab home. Luckily he avoided getting into an accident or getting someone killed. Do yourself a favor and google Michael Vick confession. Vick got a lot of sick pleasure from torturing and killing dogs. He may have served his time but he will always be a big time piece of shit in my eyes.
