I only saw two "fumbles" that were NOT fumbles. Did I miss something?

Doesn't matter, he has a habit of putting the ball on the ground. Plus, he is slow as fuck. Not a good combination for a RB if you ask me. He needs to be cut.

And has anybody really associated his name with fumblitis in seasons past?

Battle can lick my anus.

The guy is a horrible RB... great special teamer but a horrible RB. If KC ever has to rely on that piece of shit as a main RB then they are ****ed 3 ways from Sunday.

I would rather feed the ball to Cox than to Battle.

there is no way Jackie Battle is eligible for the practice squad

he's either stealing a roster spot away from someone if the coaches still have a hard on for him or he is being cut.

those are the options for him I believe

Battle did well, yesterday. If those were the only two carries he got, to get the first down we needed, then, I'm good with that. McClain did a great job of blocking, with the line.

If I'm being honest, there's nothing on the field that Thomas Jones brings that Jackie Battle can not. Jones is worthless.

Battle didn't surprise me. He always runs like this in preseason. He's a big dude who runs hard.

Not saying he's great or a feature back. But at this point there's no reason why any run to Thomas shouldn't go to Jackie.

It makes sense for a team which does not have a featured back to keep a back in there that is fresh the whole game.

The only thing good about Jackie Battle is his name. He might be better than Thomas Jones at this point though, which is depressing.

I think Battle Priest would be an awesome name for an NFL running back.

I'm not sure we've seen enough of Battle to form an accurate opinion either way.

I'd say this mirrors the Cassel vs Stanzi situation. Jones clearly isn't gonna be the guy, so maybe Battle deserves a closer look.

Personally, I don't think Battle is an NFL starting RB, but maybe he should get a shot at proving me wrong in light of the alternative.

I don't have too much problem with this, but Battle has had 4 or 5 training camps/pre-seasons and a handful of regular season carries to prove something and he's failed to earn even a regular backup spot on the roster. My impressions of him after these auditions are that he's hard-working, but slow, non-elusive, and fumble-prone.

Good point. Or maybe Battle Jack.

I'm starting to understand why Ochocinco changed his name. No one's afraid of Chad Johnson. Though perhaps he should've changed his first name to Battle.

Battle Ochocinco. You don't want to mess with Battle Ochocinco.

Some love today, was thrown Battle's way:

http://www.kansascity.com/2011/10/05/3190028/chiefs-jackie-battle-starting.html

“He’s big and fast,” Haley said. “He had a couple qualities … that made him noticeable early on. Then some of his other attributes like toughness and mental toughness showed up over time. He’s had to take a back seat to some pretty good runners.”

Toughness AND mental toughness. Only Haley could coin that.

I don't see the point in running Thomas Jones out there. You know what you're going to get, not much.
When Cassel's inner pussy comes calling he can hand it off to Jones instead of spiking the ball. Same difference

Kinda cool story there. Hopefully he keeps it up. Battle was pretty horrid in pre-season, but he looked solid vs Indy.

mcaj22

I know it was against Indy, lets be realistic that Indy defense was TERRIBLE. Probably the worse talent wise in the league currently. They literally have two pass rushing DEs, 1 safety that can play the box, and then garbage everywhere else.

With that said on a serious note. Is Jackie Battle worth taking a flyer on in fantasy leagues? Do you think he will actually get an increased workload? If so, do you think he will shit himself once he plays a real defense? Or even an average defense?

He has the talent, but there is just something about him. Like he doesn't have "it." Like the consistency for him to be a decent week to week player is unrealistic or fake.

It was a nice breath of fresh air to see someone step up though because I have been waiting for McGimmick to do ANYTHING since Charles went down and he's been a steaming pile of cow dung

Battle and any other back is going to have a hard time against 8-9 man fronts. SD owned our running game save 1 or 2 drives. We have to have the passing game open up the running game. Contrary to what the coaches wanted to do I am sure but Battle isn't effective until our passing game starts moving the ball and the defense loosens up. He is good once that happens but you can't use him to open up the passing game.
