According to Mortensen, we're one of 6 interested teams and might put in a waiver claim.

I say what's the point...what says you?

For a 2nd or 3rd QB why the hell not at this point?

He's more durable than Croyle.Edwards has had his fair share of injuries. Don't act like he's Iron Man or something. Because he's not.

Croyle is a far better 2nd QB than Edwards. If we bring Edwards in, it's as an upgrade over Palko.

Well, The Chiefs need a back up that wont be "broke-up" after he takes a hit. If Cassel goes down and is out 3 -4 weeks and Croyle goes down after jogging out to the huddle, who do the Chiefs have at QB after that?

Also if it is something that will tell Cassel that he might have some sort of competition it might keep a fire under his butt.

Actually I was just thinking.....Wishbone formation with Jones and Charles as the Half backs and McCluster as the "QB"

welp, looks like we have a 0% chance...

"Waiver claims currently remain on the basis of last year's win-loss record in reverse order. After this weekend's games, the waiver order is based on current 2010 records."

we are officially at the bottom of the waiver claim, all 5 other teams are ahead of us and at least 1 of them will put in a bid so this is pretty much useless at this point.

This weeks games aren't over yet. Its still the 2009 standings until tomorrow. Meaning since he was released today its not based on 2010.

Capable 3rd-stringer. Does nothing but check down but better than Palko. No reason not to claim him, but barely noteworthy.

HOw is Croyle better? honestly? i have NEVER seen Croyle do anything on the field really. Every game he has started in, he's been hurt.

He played ok in Baltimore last year.....at least in the 2nd half.

I was just glancing at his per game QB ratings... he had a lot more good games than Cassel has with the Chiefs.. he had some for the most part solid ratings.. but he did have a few that were until this week normal bad ones that Cassel has.

RustShack
09-27-2010, 07:32 PM
But overall he looked a lot more solid than Cassel. I'm not talking about Cassel with the Patriots, because the Bills are bad like the Chiefs.

He can't be picked up until 4 pm tomorrow and I am pretty sure 4 pm tomorrow reflects the new waiver order, and we are 3-0.

I could be wrong. But the beginning of week 4 starts tomorrow, so all things fall according to that week.

Per rotoworld:

Multiple waiver claims are expected to be placed on former Bills QB Trent Edwards before Tuesday's 4 PM deadline.
According to PFT, both the 49ers and Seahawks "like" Edwards. Chris Mortensen lists the Panthers, Jaguars, Chiefs, and Jets as other teams that could have interest. It's important to note that waiver priority will be determined by team's 2009 records.

2010: $1.65 million, 2011: Free Agent

Im not really interested, but I wouldnt boo if we claimed him either...at least he is competition for Cassel and would possibly light a fire under his arse. If we want him, we will likely get him.

There is no point in even having Brokie on the roster. Edwards sucks, but he won't explode the first time he gets sacked.

Dante84

PFT says that the 2010 records apply to the waiver process since he became available on the 28th.

That would mean we are one of the last three teams in the league able to put in a claim.

Too good for our own good.

surely there is a scrub on the roster somewhere on the roster we can cut to bring in Edwards as the 3rd QB.

who know, maybe with better coaching he can develop

all i know is that we are 1 1/2 plays away from needing a 3rd QB

Play 1 - Cassel takes a big hit and get hurt
Play 2 - Croyle breaks his clavicle while warming up to take Cassel's place

Again, he's just not gonna make it all the way through waivers to 30, 31, or 32 which is where we reside.

Also, if he does make it that far.....well, then.... is he worth picking up with his contract anyways? That would also mean every team in the league thinks he blows. Let him hit the market and take him on the cheap.

like I said he's not going to make it as far as we are now on the waiver order.

At the end of the day there are teams out there with just as bad, if not shittier QB situations than us. They need him too.

Kansas City Chiefs Never Put In A Waiver Wire Claim For QB Trent Edwards (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/9/28/1718029/kansas-city-chiefs-never-put-in-a-waiver-wire-claim-for-qb-trent)

http://cdn0.sbnation.com/profile_images/240996/headshot_tiny.jpg by Joel Thorman (http://www.sbnation.com/users/Joel%20Thorman) on Sep 28, 2010 2:41 PM PDT (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/9/28/1718029/kansas-city-chiefs-never-put-in-a-waiver-wire-claim-for-qb-trent) in 2010 Kansas City Chiefs Season (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/section/2010-campaign)
The Buffalo Bills (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/buffalo-bills) on Monday released QB Trent Edwards (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/16652/trent-edwards) at which point he hit the waiver wire. There was expected to be some activity on him and several reporters, including ESPN's Chris Mortensen, speculated that the Kansas City Chiefs (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/kansas-city-chiefs) may have an interest in Edwards.
In the end, the Chiefs didn't get Edwards as he was claimed by the Jacksonville Jaguars (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/jacksonville-jaguars).
Per ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the Chiefs never even put a claim in on him. The New York Jets (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/new-york-jets) were the only other team that did.
I'm not sure that we can glean a whole lot from this but I do find it interesting that there's still just two quarterbacks on the active roster three weeks into the season. On the surface adding someone like Edwards would make sense to compete with Croyle but ultimately the Chiefs chose not to make a move.
By the way, even if they had claimed him, they wouldn't have gotten him. With that fancy 3-0 record, they're now one of the last teams on the waiver wire.
