Thomas showed real nice instincts on his picks, but overall didn't have an excellent game or anything -- the Chargers passed for about 5000 yards, mostly over the middle.

Spiller had a nice return but I don't think that should get it done in a week with stronger competition than McCluster had in W1.

Hernandez and Bradford were meh.

Moeaki's catch was one of the best 2 or 3 I've seen in the last decade. I mean, seriously, it sounds like hyperbole, but I dare you to try and find more than that in the 2000s which were better. None of those BS through-the-leg or tip-to-self fluke catches. The timing, extension and height of Moeaki's leap is absurd in itself, and the catch is SO ridiculous, with the speed of the ball and the way he cradles it in one hand, that it actually looks like he's got superglue all over his gloves.

Bryant's is sick but he only matches Moeaki's extension -- as I said, what makes Moeaki's catch that much more impressive is that he's extending like that in mid air. I don't think it's even comparable really, which speaks to how impressive it is given how nice Bryant's catch was.

They seem to be put Asamoah in as tackle eligible on several plays a game so maybe there will be a goofy game where he will get a couple touchdown catches like Vrabel during his Patriot Way days. Only about a .00001% chance of that happening, I just like seeing him get into games.

Chiefs' Moeaki named Pepsi Rookie of the WeekNFL.com

Voters on NFL.com have made their choice. Tight end Tony Moeaki of the Kansas City Chiefs is the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week for games played on September 26-27, the NFL announced today.

Moeaki had four catches for 44 yards, including a one-handed 18-yard TD catch in the Chiefs' 31-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Moeaki was selected from among five finalists through fan votes on NFL.com/rookies. The other finalists were quarterback Sam Bradford of the St. Louis Rams, tight end Aaron Hernandez of the New England Patriots, running back C.J. Spiller of the Buffalo Bills, and free safety Earl Thomas of the Seattle Seahawks.

After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January. The winner will be announced at a press conference at Super Bowl XLV in North Texas.

This is Pepsi's ninth year as the official soft drink sponsor of the NFL and the ninth year that Pepsi will present the NFL Rookie of the Week and NFL Rookie of the Year awards.

I understand it's early in the season and what not. Didn't Tony G struggle his rookie year? I don't remember him ever being nominated for rookie of the week. So far, Tony M is further along than what Tony G was only in 3 games.

I equate this with saying that Stephen Strasburg will be better than Nolan Ryan because Ryan didn't strike out 14 batters in his first start.

I'm just saying... lets give the kid a few years under his belt before we start comparing him to the best TE to ever play the game.

The Homer in me wants to anoint him already, but I do agree with you it's waaay to early. However, I'm exited that he is picking it up so quickly and that it took Tony G a couple years before he got the "IT" in him. I think and hope Tony M is Tony Gonzo esk. At least we didn't use a first round pick on a TE. Barring injury he could make the pro bowl this year and that is a bold prediction. Yet we shall see. He may not though becouse Clark and Gaines are shew ins pro bowlers.

I'l say this, the league is taking notice of our rookie class, and any one of them has a shot at pro bowl by year two. Berry, Mcluster, Arenus (ST), and Moeaki. K. Lewis even. This is just a stud rookie class we have.

He doesn't have to match the numbers. He just has to be "on" when it counts and win that Ring.

For me, THAT's when he surpasses TG, HOF be damned.

I can't ever remember two rookies scoring two TDs APIECE in their first three games like McCluster and Moeaki.

When was the last time that happened to the ChiefS?

Oh, I so agree with you & I was ready to say something toward that line of thinking. Not spending a first round on a HOFTE vs winning a Super Bowl I'd take the Super Bowl. Moeki is a very smart dude and he is picking this offense up so he should be "ON" now on. I am getting more and more gitty abut this team, it is going to be scary good I tell ya.

Couldn't agree more. I've just been on the Moeaki bandwagon cause he's far outplayed my expectations to this point.

8. Tony Moeaki, TE, Kansas City ... One of the best things about Moeaki was watching him drive a defender 10 yards down the field while run blocking. Looks a complete tight end, catching 75 percent of balls thrown his way and dropping just one pass
