These all look like legitimate playoff teams to me, but two of them won't make it. Which two teams stay at home?

What? You don't think that a wildcard team will come out of the AFCW?

Holy crapoli...

AFC South (Tits, Texans, Colts) has an advantage as they get to beat on the AFC West this year, while the AFC North and East are going to have a slugfest.

I'm going with Houston and Pittsburgh to miss the cut.

Pitt has a pretty tough schedule coming up: 3 straight road games (Miami, NO, Cincy) and then a home game with NE.

Damn, that's too tough to call. When it's this close I'll take the teams with the defense so if I had to bet I'd take Pitt and Baltimore but I won't be surprised at all if the Jets are there at the end.
Kinda' makes the West look like real limp noodles.

I picked that the Texans will probably stay home. You can't win in the regular season if you don't have a defense. I also picked the Jets just out of spite. I freaking hate Rex Ryan's attitude and it would be awesome to see the meltdown across the NFL if they didn't make it to the playoffs. As for the AFCW related comments, I completely agree. We might make it to the playoffs, but do we have a chance of actually winning a playoff game? :shake:

Titans and Texans again...Jets, Colts, Steelers win their divisions. Ravens & Pats get the wild cards with Titans, Texans, Dolphins and Bengals right behind. No way in hell any AFC West teams get a wild card. Its gunna be Chiefs or Chargers in the West.

Amnorix
10-19-2010, 11:55 AM
Notes:

1. Ravens beat the Steelers (on the road) and Jets to give them a solid leg up in tie breakers.

2. Patriots beat Ravens giving them a leg up on them in tie breakers

3. Jets beat Dolphins (in Miami) and Pats (at home) giving them a leg up for division crown.

4. Steelers beat the Titans, but lost to the Ravens at home.

Whether these tie-breakers (and those yet to be played) determine everything, or whether the results of the NFC games decides things is yet to be seen. Luckily, the AFC West, which doesn't seem to be at threat for a wild card spot, plays the NFC West, so none of the three "better" AFC divisions has a significant advantage because they're playing the obviously weak NFC division.

Pittsburgh? LMAO

The same Pittsburgh team that lost only one game with stiffs like Charlie Batch, Byron Leftwich and Dennis Dixon at QB and are currently 4-1?

Huh?

Furthermore, the only team that poses a threat in their next three is New Orleans, and they've hardly been the same team as last year.

We'd of have wins against the colts and texans had the game been at arrowhead imo. With that said and our current position in the w, why the hell are we not on the short list to miss?

It would be pretty amazing (and slightly depressing since we lost to them) if the Mannings miss the playoffs. It appears that parity is alive and well.

I'd have to say the Tacks ... and, I guess, the Texans based on their defense. Tough call, though.

Because it seems the AFC West will send its division winner to the playoffs but the runner up won't be contending for a WC. The 7 teams I listed are all battling one another for wild card births as well as the division lead. In my mind any of the 7 are legitimate playoff teams.

As a Chiefs fan I feel a great sense of empathy for fans of teams that let them down early in the season. Shit man keep your chin up. As much as I hate to admit it the division is still wide open. Dammit.

We just went 2-4 in our easy portion of the schedule and are 0-4 on the road.

We'd need to finish 8-2 just to hit 10-6.

I went with the Houston Texans because they never seen to play an entire game let alone a whole season. Not to mention, with that Pass D teams they wont last long. This is a pass first league. Lucky for them, they have only one legit passing offense in their division

Yeah, the simple fact is that you likely need to finish 10-6 to make the playoffs.

We can only afford 2 more losses and still have the following games on our schedule

vs NE
vs TEN
@ HOU
@ IND
@ CIN

And then of course
vs KC
vs OAK
vs DEN
@ DEN

And our 1 winnable game
vs SF

Let's take a look at the other three...

KC is 3-2 and I think the bolds below are realistic losses:
vs Jags
vs Bills
@ OAK
@ DEN
vs ARZ
@ SEA
vs DEN
@ SD
@ STL
vs TEN
vs OAK
Finish 9-7

Denver is 2-4 and I think the bolds below are realistic losses:
vs OAK
@ SF (london)
vs KC
@ SD
vs STL
@ KC
@ AZ
@ OAk
vs HOU
vs SDC
Finish 8-8 - say what you will, but the hard part is over and I like Denver in all but 2 of those games, the HOU game is a push for me, but Orton will shred that secondary.

Raiders are 2-4 and I think the bolds below are realistic losses:
@ DEN
vs SEA
vs KC
@ PIT
vs MIA
@ SD
@ Jags
vs Den
vs IND
@ KC
Finish 6-10

Denver should make the Chiefs sweat it out until the final week or 2... I just don't see the Raiders doing much and SD, really - who the hell knows which team shows up.

Given the constraints of the poll, my software predicts that New England and Tennessee would be the teams sitting at home. Of course the software also thinks there is a 45% chance that the West sends a WC team to the playoffs. The efficiency rankings of SD are still very high.

Count Zarth

The Texans and Chargers will beat the crap out of Denver.

Donkos will be lucky to avoid season sweeps in the division.

JD10367

Houston and Tennessee will miss out, barely.

Colts will win that division. You just can't kill those fuckers.

Pats/Jets: one wins division, other gets WC.

Steelers/Ravens: one wins division, other gets WC.

Chiefs win their division.

I think the seeding will end up:

1. Steelers (bye)
2. Jets (bye)
3. Colts
4. Chiefs
5. Patriots
6. Ravens

(And, yes, that scenario would mean.... Wild Card weekend, Patriots at Chiefs.) :D

Can you imagine the scenario?

Cassel keeps his job.

Pats go to Arrowhead.

Cassel throws a costly horrible pick that loses the game for the Chiefs.

He'd have to be escorted from the building by SWAT...
