Please, that's just part of the NBA game. Even at 28,000 flops, he's still only a quarter of the way to tying up Manu and Vlade

I've always wanted to follow the Celtics because of him, but from my limited exposure to NBA games, he seems to be quite the cry baby.... I stopped watching the playoffs one year when Pierce was driving on LeBron, they were going in the same direction, and ended up falling in opposite directions due to a little contact..... it was like watching soccer.

Might want to give it another shot. They cracked down on that recently so it's better, and this year the emphasis is on getting players to stop whining about calls and it's been pretty effective so far. Any little complaint from a
player after a foul call now is an instant technical.

As a Celtics fan, I think Pierce has been an enigma. For a long time he had his issues (the gang signs, the knifing, the towel over the head). But as he's re-signed with the team--and, more importantly, helped them to a title in '07--people have grown to like him more. He's appreciated more than he used to be.

The Celtics had two great eras: the early one (Cousy, Havlicek, Russell, Red Auerbach), then the later one (Bird, Parish, McHale, Ainge). Then we had the large 90's dry spell until Pierce came along, and then they still floundered around for half a decade before 2007. If Pierce had a few good teammates, and won something earlier, he'd probably be thought of better, but he's sort of considered a "lone gunman" who only won when he finally had greatness around him (KG, Allen).

His antics with Walker were more responsible for the dark period of Celtics basketball than his performance with Garnett has been responsible for the Championship.

On balance, he's been a net detriment to the Boston Celtics.

Who's Paul Pierce?

Professional basketball player who has won an NBA Championship and was named First Team All American at the University of Kansas.

He's of note being that he recently eclipsed 20,000 career points as a Boston Celtic.

Not sure how much more one can be considered when you're a first ballot hall of famer but I guess I can see your point.

I'm a Lakers fan, we've done just fine in that regard.

I usually forget that Pierce was even a 'Beaker. He's a flopping, dramatic, lazy, malcontent first, a Celtic 2nd and a guy that started for 2 seasons and never won a thing for KU a very distant 3rd.

I don't dislike him because KU (I'd love to see Heinrich in purple and gold), but it sure does fit.

Kobe = first ballot HOFer

Paul Pierce = Mitch Richmond with better teammates.

The dark period I blame on Reggie lewis's poor diet.
