Cassel stays here and starts unless he suffers a major injury PERIOD.His garbage time stats have cleared him for this year and next year at least.

Trade him to the Jets for Mark Sanchez. Chiefs win the next 12 Super Bowls in a row, with Sanchez winning MVP of the season and the Super Bowl each year. Me and a bunch of other guys strut around Chiefs Planet for the rest of our lives, telling everyone how smart we are. That would pretty much be the perfect scenario.

A kid outta no where, in bumphuck Kansas who our scouts find who can Throw the ball a mile and run like the wind.. we sign him up.. dump Cassel.. and he takes his place as starting QB.

1. Give up the 1, 2 and 3 to move up and grab Luck.
2. Sit tight and hope Mallett falls to wherever KC picks.
3. Grab Baldwin in the first and take a gamble with a 2nd round QB - Devlin?
4. Take a very raw Cam Newton.
5. Late round shotgun approach - use rounds 5, 6 and 7 for a QB - Johnson, Keenum, McElroy.

Perfect Scenario?

Easy - Peyton Manning is a FA after this 2010 season. Done and done.

Since this isn't going to happen, more realistic scenario as follows:

Draft Gabbert.

Sign Alex Smith or Shaun Hill as stop-gap FAs for a season and hope Gabbert makes him obsolete by 2012.

Rinse, repeat until you find your legitimate franchise QB.

Above all else - STOP PAYING PREMIER QB MONEY TO SCRAP-HEAP QBS! You can find new marginal veteran journeyman QBs every season. Throwing huge amounts of money, long term deals and the keys to the kingdom to guys like Matt Cassel is just killing us.

Cassel isn't going anywhere folks. Might as well prepare yourselves for it. He's top 10 in QB Rating and a 16-4 TD to INT ratio. *Disclaimer PGM is not endorsing Cassel in any way as QB of the Chiefs.

You got to remember, he wasn't supposed to be the starter this year I don't think. They still want Kolb at the helm. I don't see them giving up Kolb, more than giving up Vick.

What they want is to win. Otherwise they'd have Kolb in there now. If Vick continues to play at this level, the Eagles would risk alienating their fan base by letting him go, particularly based on the way Kolb has played (other than against the Chiefs, which obviously doesn't count.)

I like make believe as much as anyone but I try to base it in something that resembles reality.

Gabbert is a homer pick. Those never work out.

How do you mean that? Never work out once they are picked? or in the sense that a team almost never picks a local player?

Yep! I have resigned myself to that fact. MEDIOCRE is what we will get. We went from clownstage to this! A couple more decent drafts and maybe that changes? But we DO need a better QB. Dear God I hate to love this team :doh!::doh!::doh!:

My perfect offseason scenario is:

1. Pioli turns to Parcells for draft advice.
2. Parcells sits down with him and goes up and down the roster evaluating the team.
3. Parcells notes who/where the Chiefs can upgrade.
4. Piocells draft Baldwin round 1.
5. Piocells draft Stanzi (smart, accurate passer, on a NFL style team) round 3.
6. Parcells cuts Cassel.
7. Piocells takes that saved money and uses it to extend other key Chiefs players.

I have some major concerns with Mallett.

1.) He's so soft. He doesn't react well to getting touched. He's kind of a pussy on the field, actually.

2.) Rampant, swirling rumors about his ongoing cocaine use.

I guarantee the 1990 Chiefs' 3rd down % was at least 7-10% higher than this year's Chiefs team. Right now, we're at 34% (and that includes all those garbage conversions from Sunday).

I wish I could see DeBerg's 3rd down conversion rate and compare it to Cassel's. Because I guarantee Cassel's stats and QB rating are covering up for inefficiencies in arguably the most important stat of the game.

No, that's a combined. I couldn't find passing only. However, in 2009, in passing only, he was around 27%.

Stanzi was horrible. Again, taking critical sacks when we can least afford it. Not to mention the terrible interception that let NW back into the game in the 4th. He's really improved on that, but still does some things that really make me want to punch a hole in the wall. Kinda like our current QB.
