View Full Version : Football Steve Johnson (Bills Receiver) Blames God for Dropped TD...

Shogun
11-28-2010, 05:50 PM
After Steven "Stevie" Johnson dropped his 5th, and most important pass, of the day in what should have been a huge upset win over the Steelers, Stevie had this to say on his twitter:

I PRAISE YOU 24/7!!!!!! AND THIS HOW YOU DO ME!!!!! YOU EXPECT ME TO LEARN FROM THIS??? HOW???!!! ILL NEVER FORGET THIS!! EVER!!! THX THO..

So, apparently, God didn't want Buffalo to win, and THAT'S the reason the pass went through his arms...

Dear Mr. Johnson,

Perhaps I have not made myself clear to you.

Four failed Super Bowl trips in a row.

Three Super Bowl championships in the past ten years.

Which team do you think I root for? You moron.

Sincerely, **God**

(P.S.: It's really not my fault. I have to root for the Patriots. Despite what he's done, Lucifer--while fallen--is still one of my angels, and I have a soft spot for the doofus, and since Coach Belichick has that deal with him, you know... Sorry.)

Funny, I've never seen anyone say God made them catch a ball, or score a TD or anything else. I have seen people give God thanks for the gifts they have, what they do with those gifts is totally in their own hands.

You, on the other hand need to figure out what God is all about, and it's not a game.

It's funny because he's an adult who believes in a fairy tale.

What I find hilarious is that people like you call it a fairy tale because you have no faith. When the lights go out, what fear keeps you awake?

It's really interesting that non-believers find such joy trying to hang a trip on believers. If you don't believe what does it matter to you that someone else does? It's a non-sequitur. Obviously you can't live and let live.

Would you rather it stay here?

The whole premise is a load of crap. Players that are believers do not thank God for letting them catch a ball or scoring a TD. The players thank God for being their savior, seems that's a concept that you and others just can't conceive.

Maybe some day you will find what others have. Until then try, just try, to live and let live.

The nice thing about faith is that it's like talking about another dimension. None of us know a damn thing so everyone's opinion is valid. I'm not overly religious, so I don't know if there is a God or not and, honestly, I don't care too much 'cause, one way or another, I'm gonna find out just like everyone else. But, if there is a God, I'm pretty sure He doesn't really intervene in football games or in much else on Earth; I see it more of a "he set up the ant farm and what the ants do is their own problem" kinda thing.

But I'll mention there was a "House" episode last week involving faith, and House had a good quote about how he stopped believing in God when his "curly hairs grew in", LOL. (He also had another great one-liner with Cuddy, his g/f-boss, who is giving him the cold shoulder, when he said, "What do you have against chickens? One got choked last night because of you.") :D

I just think the whole focal point for this topic and/or athletes is off base.

Ex:

"I'd like to to thank God for giving me my abilities. etc..." We've heard it time & time again.

And now Steve Johnson going to the opposite.

"I PRAISE YOU 24/7!!!!!! AND THIS HOW YOU DO ME!!!!! YOU EXPECT ME TO LEARN FROM THIS??? HOW???!!! ILL NEVER FORGET THIS!! EVER!!! THX THO.."

So much focus on us and what's going on in our lives. The Good, The Bad. Etc.

Perhaps Steve wrote this when he was angry so it's not entirely how he feels but I think he could use some perspective.

It's not about you or me. It's about Jesus. As God he didn't have to come into this world and pay for our many sins but he did. Why? Simply because he loves us.

I'm no scholar (far from it) and I think that's a great question (perhaps it's answered in the Gospel. I'm not sure) but it's my guess that it was God. Perhaps it's the law that he created that must be met.

Like the Earth being round, or that the sun and moon, revolve around the Earth.

I try not ridicule anyone for believing or not believing in something, unless you have proof, that it does or does not exist/is or isn't true.

God, aliens, hell, even bigfoot could be real for all we know.
If God gives some people the drive to succeed at the highest level, who are we to tell him he's not real.

I'm not going to get into this, but the way I see it, There is a cup sitting on my desk, because someone put it there.

Would I be shocked if a magical explosion with all of the materials to build the cup happened on my desk for no reason whatsoever. Damn straight. And that's just a cup. I wouldn't imagine he sticks his hand in very much, if at all, nor do I think he knows the outcome of everything.
Really, I mean, what would be the point.
It would be like seeing a movie, and then spending the next 500million years watching it over, and over again.

I do think God helps those who help themselves. In other words, this world is structured to where you're gonna get what's comin to ya. You lay down with dogs, you wake up with fleas. You do dirt, you're gonna get dirty.

Anti-religion people are going to spin at high RPM regardless of what is said and when the time comes for us all to stand for our sins it's not going to matter much what was said to them as they aren't going to be able to point to you and say: "I didn't accept you because jspchief was an ass." I'll let Bill Hicks comment for me (NSFW...naughty language):

Don't have it to stand for your own beliefs or disbeliefs? You have to let someone else do your dirty work? tsk tsk tsk.

Obviously you can't live and let live.

lol

it's more sad that you think God is a fairy tale.

First, thanking God for their abilities is not saying that God makes them catch the ball, he gave them the tools.

I don't know Steve Johnson, I don't know if the twitter page is real or another anti-Christ zealot going off the deep end.

I doubt that Steve J. prays 24/7. I have trouble praying for 10 minutes and it's usually something that is totally wrong to pray about.

Most that are posting here don't care who defends Christianity (because they all seem to be OK with Islam and don't seem as willing to attach that religion) they will rail against them. It's insanely funny that their unbelief tends to make them think they can to to a Christian what they claim the Christians are doing to them - offering them the way to Christ. They are offering nothing but disbelief. IMO they are searching for something and fear to find what it is they are searching for.

Are Christians better than non-Christians? I doubt human nature can be changed that easily.

It's funny how non-believers think that if you profess to be a Christian and go to Church that you have to be perfect in everything you do. Being a Christian does not make you perfect, it makes you one of Gods children and gives you the hope for forgiveness. Know God Know Peace, No God no peace.

It's pretty ****ing simple:

1) When alive some believe they will die, and then live on.

2) Some believe that death is the end and you just go back to the earth like all other matter.

3) Some think that the more time you waste thinking about it......well............you're wasting time!

If that's the way you feel then why do you stir up arguments against their beliefs? You just believe differently. Let it go at that .

Dude, laugh all you want. When your lights go out what will you see? What will you feel?

Believe you are going to be worm food all you want. Part of me wants you to see hope, another part of me thinks you will get your just judgment.

I think it's pretty silly.

I really don't think he is puppeteering at all.

I think the last string he pulled is when he blasted this universe into existence a loooong time ago.

To each his own.

Steven "Stevie" Johnson is right. GOD wants the FIRST Pick in the NFL Draft.

Pretty selfish on Johnson's part, everybody knows God doesn't want the Chiefs to clinch a wild card berth and that's why his dumbass dropped it.

Sounds like several of my dumbass Facebook friends that blame every minor inconvenience in life on God, and celebrate every minor victory by thanking God.

At least that passes the buck. Most who I've witnessed do that sort of thing don't blame god. He gets all the credit and none of the blame, in my experience.

Some have said they have heard player thank God for the catch, but I've never seen it anywhere and the one here that says he heard it has failed to provide a link.

Serious question: Who was he paying for our sins?

serious response:

when your kids do something wrong, and you punish them, are they repaying you for their mistake?

or...if your kid breaks a window playing baseball, and you give the home owner money, who are you paying for? the home owner? your son? both?

Thems the rules - God

It never made sense to me when people tried to use as proof that God doesn't exist the argument that what is in Scripture as Gods law doesn't make sense to THEM. "Why would God require...". Etc etc

Sorry that God didn't clear it with you first.

Cassel sucks.
