Slow news day? :doh!:

On the main page of espn.com... "LeBron arrives at arena, ready to face Cavs".

Gee, did the rest of the team make it, too? What about Cleveland, are they coming off a road trip, or were they coming from home? Did they make it okay?

I get that it's a big deal, but they have a whole freakin' article about his routine since he got there... all the hype and boos and so forth, and outside of the boos each time he touches the ball, it'll be just another basketball game.

Because he played with the Cavs for a long time and they promised to resign him right after the Wizards released him last year. He was in the trade that brought Jamison to Cleveland.

I honestly didn't expect them to be THAT good. Good enough to make the playoffs, sure, but it's going to take a while for LeBron, D-Wade and Bosh to learn how to play together. They'll be in the Finals within the 2 seasons.

I'm a Celtics fan too. But people have been doing this for Decades, gotta go where your career can thrive. Say somebody was with a business for 10 years where conditions never got any better and your career was at a standstill. You can't tell me that ANYBODY, including people in Cleveland expected him to stay, thats not why you have a tv special. Also ESPN came to him with the idea, and instead of taking the money he donated it to the Boys and Girls club. I'm sure all of those kids at the Boys and girls club IN CLEVELAND aren't complaining. Cleveland fans are retarded. Regardless of the way he did it, they would've done this same exact thing. They are using that as an excuse. I'm sure Lebron is partying up because he beat a team he was supposed to beat. That team still sucks. And as Joe Posnanski said, now that the Cavs game is over, nobody cares about the Heat. They're a boring team. Good move, Lebron. Great move.

The Heat are 1-7 against teams with winning records. That fucking says it all.

I have season tickets to the Thunder and believe we are the most exciting team to watch. We may not be ready for a championship yet but it's in the horizon. Our big three are all under 22 years old and Westbrook is morphing in to a superstar. Everyone talks about Derrick Rose but Westbrook is a more complete player IMO. He is fearless in the lane and his dunks are breath taking. He took over a game in triple OT night(with Durant out) and would not allow us to lose. He is a flat out winner. I would take Durant and Westbrook over Lebron and Dwade without thinking twice. They actually compliment each other.

The best teams in the NBA are the Celtics and Lakers until proven otherwise though.

Lebron is one of the most talented basketball players of all time.

But Phil Jackson shaped Kobe into a player who understood how to dominate while getting his team to perform at a high level. Until Lebron learns that, he's just a talented player who can't win when it matters most.

Hey wait a minute they are a horrible horrible team who just got beat by 19 points and 28 points back to back at home.

The Cavs are not a horrible team.

You are celebrating the Heat for beating the NBA version of the Buffalo Bills--a team that can beat anybody but doesn't have a ton of talent yet.

LeBron and Kobe debate is like Manning & Brady in football. If you are building a team you want the guy to be like LeBron or Manning. But in reality, Brady & Kobe are the choices.

You are basing this on the ridiculous assumption that any team can survive without a superstar.

The Cavs are an average team at best. Everybody knows this. The question isn't whether the Cavs are a good team. The question is if the Cavs could be a playoff team with an all-star calibre player on their roster as a replacement for Lebron. Guarantee that if you replace Lebron in Cleveland with Derrick Rose, this team is a legit NBA Championship contender.

Kobe's my favorite player, but he's nowhere close to LeBron's level as a basketball player. It's not exactly his fault, though, he doesn't have the same physical tools. Nobody really does.

Kobe might not have the physical tools like Lebron has but he has everything else including the intelligence, competitiveness, and the drive to win championships. Something that Lebron maybe lacking.

Basically Kobe is the closet to MJ that the NBA has.

Oh fucking BS. It would take at least 2 All-star calibre players to make that team anywhere close to legit.

I doubt they even make the playoffs in the weak East

Lebron's offense revolves around standing at the 3 point line, holding the ball for 10 seconds, then dribble penetrate and then pass it off if he's not open on the drive.

Just because he is supremely talented doesn't mean he's a good team player.

The Cavs are a terrific supporting cast for a good player.

It just so happens that the only reason they don't have a good player is because they were saving their cap space and free agency attention on a player that was ultimately going to dick them over.

You add one terrific player to that roster and they are a strong, competitive playoff team.

When people act like Lebron was some 1-man show, that's a different story. The Cavs built their team around Lebron. They have very good 3-point shooters, some very good rebounders, and a bunch of guys who play very good defense. People pay way too much attention to what teams look like without superstars. What I'm more interested in is what does a team look like if you replace a superstar with a good player?

Cleveland with Lebron is better than Miami with Lebron. It's not even a debate. They assembled a team where Miami just stuck three stars together like playing a video game. Anyone who thinks different is fooling themselves. This team will not win anything significant in it's current format.

Again, you take away a very big piece and you replace him with... Ramon Sessions?

The question is, if you brought in a good player to replace Lebron. Not necessarily a superstar like Kobe or Lebron. What if you brought in a guy like Danny Granger or Rudy Gay to replace Lebron?

The Cavs would be a good team in that situation. Therefore, the supporting cast isn't nearly as bad as people would suggest. Lebron just put the Cavs in a tough situation last season where they couldn't possibly replace him. They'll have that opportunity next offseason.

No, I think it's that I'm living in reality and accept that even Kobe has flaws. MJ didn't.

Michael Jordan Career Averages:
30.1 PPG, 6.2 REB, 5.2 AST, 2.3 STL, 0.8 BLK, 49.7 FG%, 27.9 PER, .569 TS%, .509 eFG%, 118 ORating, 103 DRating

Kobe Bryant Career Averages:

Really, it isn't even all that close. Charles Barkley was crazy a few weeks ago to even suggest that Kobe was among the top 5 of all time.

Defensive awards are like Gold Gloves in baseball. They are given repeatedly to players with good reputations or big names, but that doesn't mean they are always grounded in reality (Jeter).

Jordan was a far superior defensive guard, and as I showed you, the offensive efficiencies aren't close.

Don't think so. Off memory, I'd rank guys like Jordan, Kareem, Wilt, Magic, Bird, Robertson, Robinson, Shaq, Duncan, Malone, Russell, and Hakeem above him.

Jordan - 6 World Championships
Kobe - 5 World Championships
Lebron - 0
Horry- 7 World Championships

Team achievements aren't an indication of who is the superior basketball player individually.

It is a bit different in the NBA since it's often the players that were once elite defenders that can tend to get the reputation vote. MLB is where offensive production and general randomness can lead to a gold glove.
