I'll kick off this post by stating that I am hammered beyond all get-out. Had a shitty day at work. If you don't like this post, kindly go fuck yourself. If it's a repost, doubly so.

Today I busted my favorite pair of shoes. I've had this pair of shoes since I was 15 years old... so I've had them for 15 years. I wore them constantly over that time and though towards the end they definitely showed their age, I still got compliments on them.

http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/2170/image053u.jpg

Those Docs were the single best built pair of shoes I have ever owned. Some people may not care for the style but, god damn those things were durable.

Here is to you Wingtip Dr. Martens. Though I retire you for all time, you did your duty of covering my feet and keeping them dry while making me look good better than any other pair of shoes I have ever owned.

May your replacement last at least half as long as you did.

RIP

Hell yes.

I wore these things on a nearly daily basis for all that time. Very comfortable but a touch on the heavy side. You get used to the weight though.

I have 4 pairs of Docs and I love every pair of them, my black boots are my go to shoes all winter and have held up better than any pair of shoes I've ever owned....just get some wonder balsam or whatever the Doc's shoe stuff is called, apply it and they look brand new again. And 2 of the four pairs are wingtips!

I was gonna remark that most expensive boots [retail] I ever bought were worth it, then I google searched to find that and saw what they're going for now. Yowza!!

http://www.ralphlauren.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4360408&utm_medium=feeds&utm_source=Pronto

I found mine at the Olathe outlet store when they had a 80% off footwear closeout. They were marked $150 down from $225, and I got them for $30.

Soft as a baby's butt, and not only do they not wear out, they look brand new, after 10 years of regular use.

This.

When I was in high school, my mom gladly bought me some docs for Christmas. She repeated the same thing: "Doc Marten's Boots last forever." They are still in my closet, even though I only wear them for doing heavy work type things now. The leather is still great and the tread is worn all the way down. Also, they are damn comfortable for being so tough.

Dr. Marten's boots + Polo Jeans + Tommy Hilfiger polo shirt = one sexy ass high schooler in 1998. :)

These FTW:

I have worn Dr. Martens work boots for years now. Usually, I buy new ones after a year or two. The old one are usually still in good shape by that time. They just need gel inserts. But this last pair I bought last year started falling apart on me recently. :( Needless to say, I was disappointed. But i replaced them with some motorcycle boots from http://leatherup.com/. :) I got 2 pairs for the price of one pair of DMs.

While those are a bit excessive, I actually prefer the higher waistline on women's jeans, I think it does a better job of showing off their curves. The low-rise ones just accentuate the widest part of a woman's butt making it look bigger, and their popularity puzzles me with the way most women are self conscious about the size of their ass.

I'm very hard on shoes, but my first pair lasted a little over two years (that's gotta be a record for me). I think riding the motorcycle was hardest on 'em - the soles were worn out.
