Mofo played like a seasoned playmaking vet QB tonight against a hot Pats team in their house. Too bad he is not our b/u. Croyle will not do and surely Pioli is making plans for a better b/u for next yr. Flynn will be somebody's stud starter in the future for sure. Guy was very poised for very little playing experience. Flynn is a stud. Funny we drafted Brohm like 5 rounds ahead of him and then cut Brohm anyways the next year.

Yeah, the Brohm thing is funny.

That offense is setup for qb success he might not be as good on another team. But as for the game against the pats , kudos to him

He reminds me a lot of Mark Brunell and not just because he's a backup for the Packers

Whatever the Packers do to coach up QBs I'm surprised other teams haven't discovered the secret to their success and at least tried to mimic or duplicate it.

Really? I didn't get that at all.

A few people suggested that the Chiefs should trade for him, back when Cassel was still having difficulties. I still can't believe that JaMarcus was #1 overall and this guy was a 7th round pick.

Scouts and GM's are fucking dumb, clueless, overpaid fucks.

In college he split time with an average at best QB. He was an average college QB who's played 1 good game he certainly was shit vs the Lions.

1. Chad Pennington, Marshall: New York Jets, Round 1, Pick 18.
2. Giovanni Carmazzi, Hofstra: San Francisco 49ers, Round 3, Pick 65.
3. Chris Redman, Louisville: Baltimore Ravens, Round 3, Pick 75.
4. Tee Martin, Tennessee: Pittsburgh Steelers, Round 5, Pick 163.
5. Marc Bulger, West Virginia: New Orleans Saints, Round 6, Pick 168.
6. Spergon Wynn, SW Texas State: Cleveland Browns in Round 6, Pick 183.
7. Tom Brady, Michigan: New England Patriots in Round 6, Pick 199.

It certainly helped. Pats had no film on him, probably underestimated him, bit of a trap game being at home and knowing Rodgers was out and they'd just secured a playoff spot, plus the Pats defense--while playing well in recent weeks--still isn't the '85 Bears. But, having said all that, you have to give the kid his props. He played an excellent game, given the circumstances, for around 58 minutes. (Not that I blame the horrid time management at the end solely on him; his coaches have to know, being a rookie, that he needs to be told exactly what to do in that situation.)

To be fair, Russel was an amazing prospect and had a ceiling Flynn could only dream of having. Going to Oakland and purp drank took care of that shit though.

Another thing to keep in mind is the Packers have a really good set of receivers in the passing game.

Well I guess it's good for him that he didn't get drafted by one of those teams that doesn't set it's offense up for QB success.:shake:

The Packers sure know how to run the slant.

I just looked at Croyle (drafted 06) vs. Flynn (drafted 08). There is no comparison, only in the coaching they each got after the draft. (As high as I was on Flynn, there was no way the Chiefs were going to draft Flynn, and I was amazed that he went to late in the draft. I was drinking the purple drank, for that matter, as high as I was on JaFatAss Russell back then.)

It's all a matter of coaching after the combine and draft. (Funny to see "Father Time" Curl on the bench with Bradford. Bradford excels in spite of the staff in St. Louis.)

Kudos to Flynn; he did a great job last nite.

Backup? LOL

That guy played better in his first start and made more accurate throws against a good defense than Casshole ever has.

There's a reason our backups suck - the same reason Belichik wouldn't bring anybody else in back when Brady went down. Poor Matty can't handle the pressure of being outplayed on a daily basis.

Gotta give the pack and Ted Thompson their due. While Thompson makes some bone headed decisions sometimes (ie not picking up a RB after Grant went down), overall he's done a really good job building the Packers the right way. He's not overly popular, but his success is all over that team.

Consequently I think the Chiefs are doing the same thing.

This is extremely true! Even when Cassel sits out a game, the coaches are sure to sabotage the backup's chances at playing well!

How can someone be an amazing prospect if he completely lacks the intangibles necessary for a QB to succeed in the NFL? When I first started hearing the talk of JR being the first guy taken in the draft, I was shocked.

I hope he was a WR project.
