Nobody, but I haven't seen the bears much this year and they're potentially a first round bye team so I figured I'll watch them.

this is bullshit about peterson

down 153-150 (thanks Flynn for being sacked and losing a fumble and giving the Patriots 3 more points) and I had Peterson left...

I knew he was questionable (but everything pointed to him playing) and wanted to bench him...but it was either roll the dice or start both Carolina backs...so I started Peterson and picked up Chester Taylor just in case...

now I need 4 damn points out of Chester Taylor (since I lose the tie)...it is a PPR...

but JFC

Adrian Peterson will NEVER be on my team again. I promise you that.

should I REALLY roll the dice and start Lorenzo Booker and hope he gets a time split with Toby Gerhart or should I just grit my fucking teeth and hope Chester vultures a damn TD from Forte?

Mother fuck!

It's a PPR league and Chester gets some catches and looks on 3rd downs, too...

this is fucking ubelievable

it was 150-150 on the last play of SNF, too...and then Flynn got sacked (1) and lost a fumble (2) so I am down 3 points because of Flynn losing 4 points on that final drive...

I knew that was going to haunt me...

I fucking knew it.

Short Leash Hootie
12-20-2010, 06:28 PM
I basically got Andre Johnson and Adrian Peterson for LeSean McCoy, Kyle Orton, Beanie Wells and T.O...never thought it would come back to haunt me in the damn playoffs...

Andre bailed me out last week (Peterson had 2 points) and now this week All GAY is a surprise inactive...

thanks AP...you've really contributed for me this year...you piece of shit

Bill Lundberg
12-20-2010, 06:31 PM
Taylor should get you 3 points in receptions alone. Don't sweat it. I had Peterson also, fortunately I had Gerhart. Unfortunately, I need him to outscore the Bears Defense by 52 points lol.

Short Leash Hootie
12-20-2010, 06:31 PM
he's had 4 or more in 8 of 13 weeks and the Bears have shifted their philosophy from 7 step drops to a much more conservative approach...

so I'd say I have about a 65% chance of winning

but that's significantly lower than the 13/14 weeks Peterson had 4+ points and the fact he would have been the offensive focal point of his team...

This ANGERS me.

yeah I dropped Ivory this week for Taylor (no Gerhart on the wire) in case, for some odd reason, Peterson didn't play...

If I had gone with my gut (I benched Peterson for Jonathon Stewart in another league) and just played Stewart and Goodson like I wanted to...I would have already won...

but I just couldn't justify benching Peterson for a change of pace Carolina back...

even though Peterson just gave me a HORRIBLE feeling this week...

he'll go down as dead to me if I lose this week...

I won't keep him in my other keeper league...

I have Rodgers on this team, too

and I am facing the asshole this week who has Hillis so I really want to win...

but yeah, real nice that fantasy playoff make or break week I am without Rodgers and a last second Peterson...

and real nice that we're the two top scorers this week...

and real nice I have $20 riding on this game with this guy...

and real fucking nice that if I lose I play for $25 instead of $125 (or $75 for 2nd)...

yeah it's my lowest $$$ league...but I still want the $145 I could win

Since we're venting. My team of:

Kitna
McFadden
Peterson(now Gerhart)
Charles
Andre Johnson
Desean Jackson
Tony Gonzalez
Kaeding
Raiders (this week)

is down 51 to:

Vick
Ryan Torrain
Tolbert
Maclin
Vincent Jackson
Pierre Garcon
Whitten
Billy Cundiff
Bears

I thought for sure I was a lock to be the first back to back league champ. Then Mike Vick puts up 38 points in the final 8 minutes of the game... Vincent Jackson decides to show up for a hat trick and BOOM - third place here I come.

Yep...damn you got Vick'd and Jackson'd for sure...

I linked a team I have with Vick and Jackson, too...and I'm not sure too many people lost starting those two this week...

Gotta love fantasy playoffs...

but hey...in our CP baseball league I ran into Tulowitzki when I was a GD shoe-in to win that league...

If we're venting about our FF teams, I'll vent about mine. I passed on Hillis when he was a FA around Week 4. Around Week 8, I knew Blount was available but didn't claim him. I missed the playoffs but I was in the only division in which every team was above .500 while another team won a division under .500. I got by with Woodhead and Torain as my RBs for a few weeks, than my luck ran out.

I wouldn't have taken Ryan Grant with the last pick of the draft...

so I don't feel bad for any Ryan Grant owners...

FFL is the one fantasy sport where you don't have to take players you think will suck and you can reach by rounds if you think someone is going to be a stud...

I never take running backs like Ryan Grant or Steven Jackson...ever

Everyone made fun of my teams when I linked them in the preseason and I made the playoffs in 3 of 4 leagues, won the points title in both leagues that paid for points, and (if Taylor scores 4 points) will be playing for 2 championships and 1 3rd place...

and I could make a return of 4X my money...

all because I don't take running backs like Ryan Grant in PPR/OP leagues...

because it's bad strategy

I'm not saying I deserved to be in the playoffs. In fact, I didn't deserve to be in it. I scored like the 3rd fewest points in my league but managed to have a winning record. I'll take that.

:D

They were too busy running down the real loser -- Tom Coughlin.

Coughlin ordered his team into a deep, suicidal prevent defense in the fourth quarter ...

"We got into a prevent defense in the fourth quarter," Tuck said. "We were spotting him up front rather than rushing him." With this strategy, Coughlin muzzled the bite of his own linemen and linebackers.

"We weren't the same defense," Barry Cofield said. "He was the same player."

A great player, sure. Tuck announced Vick had his vote for MVP. Yet still, the game plan changed unnecessarily. That old cliché - a prevent defense prevents you from winning - was spot on.

The problems went deeper than Dodge ...

Michael Strahan said it best. "The coaches played scared in the last seven minutes, and we saw the result."

Shocking.

It was general admission, I think. Much like with the game in Detroit last week. (I think they also gave out too many tickets but, given the weather, that wasn't a problem since there are clearly empty seats in the left and right areas of the top deck.)

Oh, and... that field looks as hard as a fucking rock. But, knowing that, any player who didn't suit up like a Power Ranger is an idiot. If they shatter a kneecap or an elbow they'll have only themselves to blame. (Well, themselves, and the NFL...)

Ralph Wilson stadium in Buffalo, the new MEadowlands and Arrowhead do not have heating coils BTW. No different than playing the game in one of those stadiums.

2. Vikings, Bears players should stop worrying about the field at TCF Bank Stadium.
Last week, several Bears expressed concern regarding the hibernation-inducing quality of the surface at TCF Bank Stadium, the home of the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. The field, which was designed for games played in September through November not December or January, lacks the heating systems employed by NFL stadiums in the coldest months of the year.
(It had been widely presumed throughout the week that all NFL stadiums have a built-in heating system. NFL spokesman Michael Signora tells PFT that three stadiums do not have underground heating coils — Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo, Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, and the New Meadowlands Stadium. That said, these stadiums have procedures for preventing the accumulation of ice and snow during the season. At TCF Bank Stadium, the season was believed to be over.)
The Viking aren’t concerned that the field will be a problem. Players from both teams aren’t as optimistic. At this point, however, nothing can really be done about it. As NBC’s Rodney Harrison pointed out during our weekly online video segment, a coach like Bill Belichick of the Patriots would explain to his players that obsessing over a potential distraction will serve only to make the potential distraction a distraction.
If one or more players suffer injury due to the potentially frozen field, then there will be questions even harder than the most frozen tundra Lambeau Field ever has generated. But with the NFL moving forward and the NFLPA standing silent, there’s really nothing that the players can do other than, you know, play.

The continued comparison of the UConn women's team to John Wooden's accomplishments at UCLA are infuriating. NOT. THE. SAME. THING. Not even close. How does Geno Auriemma's anus hole (on his butt) taste?

http://www.jacksonsun.com/article/20101219/SPORTS/12190321/No-smoke-and-mirrors-needed-for-UConn-women-s-streak

UCLA had become the dominant program in college basketball, winning 10 NCAA titles in 12 years, including seven straight from 1967 to 1973. At the time, UCLA losing in college basketball was about as rare as, well, UConn losing in women's college basketball today.
. . .
Forty-two of UCLA's wins came against Pacific Coast Conference (now the Pac-10) foes California (unranked), Oregon (unranked), Oregon State (unranked), Stanford (unranked), USC (unranked), Washington (unranked) and Washington State (lousy).
. . .
Besides the 42 conference wins, the number ballooned at the expense of schools such as Cal State Santa Barbara, Southern Methodist, Santa Clara, Pacific, Denver, Drake and Wyoming, each located out west.

UCLA did finally branch out, only after doing more damage west of the Mississippi River than William Tecumseh Sherman did during his little visit to Atlanta, and play eastern schools such as The Citadel, Loyola of Chicago, Ohio and Pittsburgh. (Why do I get the feeling those games were played at UCLA?)

Adding three national titles during their run, the caliber of team the Bruins faced improved when they reached the Final Four. But in the West Region, UCLA's victims were Brigham Young, Weber State, Long Beach State (twice), Arizona State and San Francisco.

If you are accusing me of saying UCLA was cherry picking, you would be right.

But not UConn, where last season the Huskies beat seven of the top 13 teams in the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll and 10 of the top 25, with 17 wins coming against 14 of the teams in the 2010 NCAA tournament.~such a competitive slate~

You know they have the technology to do this digitally.

"Oh, but anyway, Toto, we're home. Home! And this is my room, and you're all here. And I'm not gonna leave here ever, ever again, because I love you all, and - oh, Auntie Em - there's no place like home!" --- Favre, on the bench

Bane

So with Favre out, you think the NFL will retroactively call this a tie because of the field conditions?

I'm surprised Goodell hasn't called it already.

Shogun

Any hit on Favre should be a 15 yard penalty and ejection from the league. That should add a good 2 years to his career.

The "winter snow" is making the field slicker. As opposed to the summer snow that makes it stickier???

But Favre is no mere mortal QB. Only the rock hard field could have caused a God such as Favre to become injured.

And as old as Methuzelah.

Gee, I hope Favre doesn't have any lasting ramifications from this concussion. He could do weird things like say something (like "I retire") then change his mind repeatedly... or he could do something off-the-wall like mail a picture of his junk to some woman, or he could... oh, wait, hold on... nm

It's fucking amazing that there aren't limbs scattered all over the field due to ground conditions. I was expecting to see some gladiator type gore today.
