....Jonathan Baldwin WR from Pitt at pick 24 I think it was. Any discussion on him, I have watched him a couple times, he is a big boy at 6'5 230, probably would go quite a bit higher if he had a good QB.

I know some people hate the draft threads, but I actually enjoy reading draft topics. With the Bowl games coming up we should bring the Draft Planet back up IMO.

I understand the draft-folks having an interest in having a dedicated place to go in find your threads, but given that we tag each thread with a topic area, I can't fathom a reason we need to continue with a separate forum for draft talk. If you need to find the draft threads, filter for them. If you don't want to see draft threads, WTF? This is a football board. I get not wanting to see political threads, but football ones? That's ridiculous, IMO.

too many threads in one forum means too much crap gets bumped 3 pages deep before you log back on to check em.

kind of a pain in the ass sorting through 75 threads you dont want.

whats the big deal anyways? clicking into another forum is just as easy if not easier than clicking to sort all your threads. and it's more convienent for the group of people that don't give a crap about draft threads.

Well I really didn't make light of it because it was Walter, but because I find Baldwin an interesting prospect, that's all.

they have us taking this guy in the second..lol

PITTSBURGH Pitt defensive end Jabaal Sheard has been suspended indefinitely after being accused of throwing another man through the glass door of an art gallery.

Police say Sheard was in a fight early Sunday and had to be pepper sprayed after he threw the man through the door of La Fond Galleries.

Well I really didn't make light of it because it was Walter, but because I find Baldwin an interesting prospect, that's all.

And as for that, I don't see why you should have two big possession guys you've taken in the first round in recent years. That's just me. I would agree that WR is a need, but do you really want another big possession guy like that? I would think a speedy guy in the later first half of the draft like Torrey Smith or a great route runner like Ryan Broyles. This way they could get a solid WR prospect later and fill a bigger need in OLB or C first.

Just my opinion.

Two Pitt Panthers in the first two rounds?? Yeah, like I said, the guy who does these mocks is a fucking retard.

LOL

Oakland Raiders: Alex Linnenkohl, C, Oregon State
The Raiders don't really have anything at center; the Jared Veldheer experiment is thankfully coming to an end. Alex Linnenkohl would be a huge upgrade at the position.

That "experiment" came to an end after the first couple games and when he was plugged into LT, he's been playing pretty damn good. Another example of him being a retard.

And LOL at WF having Mark Ingram as a first round pick. Dude is gonna blow in the NFL except as a short yardage guy.

JTagg7754

You don't think Baldwin is fast?

Not as fast as Torrey. I never said he wasn't anyway. My point is, I think you guys have too many more needs than to go throw more big money at another possession WR. You're gonna need OLB help and C help and very soon. Tie some money up into other positions and attempt to find a WR later while there's still good prospects.

Just my opinion though. I'm sure most won't agree b/c they think Bowe sucks or some shit. You guys should be a run first, pass second team anyway. Don't need Cassel out there chucking it around 40 times a game when you have Charles and Jones back there. Another reason having all that money tied up in WRs is kinda pointless.

Pay much attention to the current cap situation much? The Chiefs have PLENTY of room under the cap to sign Larry Fitz, the entire draft, lock up Flowers, Hali, Bowe, AND pick up another quality FA acquisition if one fits our needs.

I can understand not wanting a ton of subforums on here. Keep in mind though, draft planet never goes away. It's just on the front page. Click Chiefsplanet at the top and go to Draftplanet.

An easy solution IMO, is keep the lounge. Just make it a sub forum, and have all football related threads go into the main forum, and call it something different. Anything Chiefs, draft, or otherwise football related only. That way, those of us who want to bullshit can, and those of us who use this place for nothing other than football have a nicely condensed forum to read all of that.

The bet was that you wouldn't show up when we beat you. We happened to lose that game on accident.

I would be happy with this...

R1
Patrick Peterson, CB - LSU
Nick Fairley, DE/DT - Auburn

Or, they could trade down some in R1 and pick up extra selections, there's plenty of holes to fill in Denver on defense and at TE.

R2 (2 selections)
Jared Crick, DE/DT - Nebraska
Jerrell Powe, NT - Ole Miss

Honestly, a threesome of Fairley, Crick and Powe would suit me just fine if they're as good as people think and they fit whatever new scheme is in place. The new regime has to build up the defense through the draft.

Things will change so much between now and then, but I'd be content with a defensive focused draft - esp early on.

DL / CB / TE / RB should be the focus of the draft.

Find key guys early (first 5 picks) for those first 3 spots, grab a RB late and maybe another OL, S or WR.

Because he's an unrestricted FA, He and D-Bowe are boys, he credits his rise to elite status to Haley, they are very close, and he is the kind of player that Pioli, and Co. drool over, and would actually pony up for.

I haven't watchedcollege footbal this season as much as in previous seasons, so my only comment here is that if there is a potential pass rushing OLB available when we pick in the first round, I'd rather make that pick and then look to center and WR in the next couple of rounds.

Yeah, a pass rusher, and a NT in rounds 1&2 would be ideal IMO.

Wow really??? Justin Houston should be pretty good and pending on who drafts them obviously, the following should be good prospects for the oLB 3-4 position:

- Robert Quinn
- Jeremy Beals
- Mark Herzlich (assuming he can get his strength up to NFL par after his cancer and what not)
- Jack Crawford (if he ever decided he wanted to play football)
- Steven Friday
- Akeem Ayers

That's a pretty good list to choose from. Now the only one's who I feel will be worth the late first the Chiefs are expected to get are Quinn, Ayers, and Houston (<-- he would be ideal for where you're projected to be at).

Oh. I didn't know that. We could probably land one in the 2nd, or third then, and try to address NT in round 1 if there are any quality NTs, available.
After that, I would like C, WR, and maybe a Bulldozer Back, unless Battle turns out to be that guy, and it looks like he could. TJ is showing his age, and I don't think he will have much left in the tank after the 2011 season, and will probably be worn down by the end of 2011.

there's 3 or 4 worth a look - Ayers (UCLA), Houston (Georgia), Miller (A&M), and the Purdue guy I know nothing about - and a bunch of WRs.....we shouldn't have any problem getting a player at a position of need

but we've also seen that no one had any clue who we'd draft outside of Berry....so I expect some holy shit style picks again (and am better prepared)

Who do you like?

Miller is the best rusher, but he doesn't look too solid against the run or in pass D. Plagued by injuries this year.

I also like Justin Houston.

Quinn was suspended the entire year for taking $ from an agent, so I doubt he's a viable 1st round pick for KC. He'd have to be in great shape and ace the interviews.

Ayers is an all around well rounded player, but his pass rush isn't special.

Beal is strong, but I don't think he's overly quick nor do I think he has a great first step.

Like I said, it becomes a little annoying when someone posts their personal updated versions of mock draft every 2 days. There's no reason to reach for a NT.

We can get a good one in free agency for relatively cheap. Guarantee that Aubrayo Franklin is on the market. Paul Solilai. I really truly believe that if we committed to bringing in Aubrayo Franklin, we could easily get him. That gets you a few year fix and you can use a 3rd or 4th rounder or lower to bring one in. Nose Tackles aren't nearly as hard to find as people say it is. I would easily prioritize an OLB.

Personally, I think it is time to move the Draft Planet back to the front page. It is nice to be able to look up at the sub-forums and see what/who the latest post is from. And I also think the Draft Planet deserves to be in that sub-forum all through out the football season and up through a week or two after the draft... Every bit as much as the Media Center and the Casino Planet.

Baldwin would be a perfect fit for our offense. Great hands. Great blocker. Fast. Great in red zone. Always gets open.

If he fell to our pick and there wasn't an elite NT or OLB available, he would be a great pick.

I'm on the Akeem Ayers bandwagon for our first round pick. He is perfect for Vrabel's spot at outside backer. We really don't need an elite pass rusher, just somebody who could do it if we need it. Ayers fits the mold perfectly. Also he is a team captain.

Why not catch a NT in free agency? I do think our first couple picks need to be on the front seven, though. We severely lack depth there. We should pick up a speedster WR project in the later rounds to complement Bowe and McCluster, IMO. We also need to add a center and depth to our O-line from what I've seen. We are starting to cobble something together here, but the rebuild needs more time to develop depth. I think depth is an issue in case you guys couldn't tell.

Because elite NT's typically don't make it to the FA market.

If they do, it's for a reason, and that reason usually isn't good.

Dude, get real. Gabbert did not lose that game. The defense lost that game in the first 10(or so) minutes of the game. Pretty tough to look like a great QB when the D has a 2+ score lead and knows you have to pass. Secondly, how is the pressure getting to him(poor line play) indicative of him being a bad QB? Please answer this one...

As MU fan, I like Gabbert, but I am not positive he will be a great NFL QB. It is very hard to determine which spread QBs will translate to the NFL(Bradford so far) and which will not(way too many to list). I sure as hell like his size and arm strength though.

NT Paul Soliai from the Dolphins might be an answer. Since he got inserted into their starting lineup, the Dolphins are giving up 2.3 yards per carry.

He's 6'4, 355. That's a big MF.

I have a big Browns homer in my family, he says Shawn Rodgers will be available this off-season too. But from what I've heard he's a freelancer, which is why he'll hit the market.

We need several d-lineman since we have 0 depth, so I'd love to see us pick up and draft a big fat NT.

If you rewatch that tape, he made a number of really good throws in that game. He literally had to fit the ball into windows that most NFL QBs don't have to. His WRs couldn't get a fucking inch of separation, and his line couldn't protect for shit. Getting a concussion from a H2H hit didn't help things, either.

Granted, I'd probably be pissed about him not going to NU if I were you, because had he done so, you'd be playing Auburn for the national title.

You don't draft a player in the first 3-4 rounds to fill a need at backup QB. That's what a veteran FA is for. If you draft a QB in that range, he's not going to be any better than Croyle if he comes off the bench his rookie year.

I wouldn't mind taking a stab in rounds 5-7 trying to find a diamond in the rough. If we draft one in the 3rd or 4th, we better have him graded as a 2nd.

Yeah, Saul and others stole my thunder. If he slipped into round 3, which probably won't happen, Ponder would be really interesting.

He's probably a second rounder, though. If not, we should pull the trigger b/c we'll need someone in the wings.

I think Ponder will last into round 3. I have no idea what people see in him, though. I mean that literally. He may be the first QB that has been discussed as a high pick that I don't see anything in whatsoever. I have watched him play 3 times and paid close attention to him because so many around here are high on him. He seems like an average college QB to me.

By the way, has Walter Football ever eaten crow for being severely negative about the Chiefs, even during their winning streak? I think he even called a Chiefs' fan out for daring to suggest that the Chiefs are better than he gave them credit for.

They predicted 3-13 before the season and basically projected a Broncos' like winless fall after we won a few games. Most analysts were wrong about the Chiefs, but none were as stubbornly wrong as Walter was.

Narrow the list down a bit. Which guys are from the SEC or the Big 10? Any team captains? You know how Pioli drafts.

I find it funny though theres always an excuse for Gabbert getting his ass handed to him by a physical defense. I'd hate to see how he'd play against a defense like Pittsburgh.

And why would we draft a QB when we already have one?
