Derrion Thomas to Walk On at Mizzou

By Mike DeArmond - Posted on 22 December 2010

Derrion Thomas, the son of the late Chiefs All-Pro linebacker Derrick Thomas, has told PowerMizzou.com that he will walk on to the Missouri football team.

A 2009 graduate of Blue Springs South, Thomas said he would enroll at Missouri in Januray. He's been a Fort Scott (Kan.) Communioty College the last two years and would have three years of eligibility at Missouri.

I think his sons could field their own team.

This kid weighs 200 pounds last time I checked. How much weight you think he can gain? 20?

at least another 200 if he starts now. Doughnuts, booze, candy, pop, everything he can get his hands on.

I wouldn't recommend it though.

He has lots of potential to be good IMO. Only played football 2 years at South if I remember correctly. Recorded a monster game against Rockhurst. Sacked Scheelhaase 4 times. I think the raw skills are definitely there. Just needs to bulk up quite a bit still. Curious to see what he's weighing in at now.

Brian Smith had a pretty good career at MU, and listed weight aside, I doubt he touched 230 soaking wet.

Apparently young Thomas realizes that, with the departure of Colorado from the Big XII, Kansas won't win another game during his collegiate career. :D

I would be surprised if anything came from it.

Bullshit, we will have a couple cupcakes to start the season next year... like North Dakota State or some team easy to beat.

Go Coach Black Jesus!!

Hey you never know one of my good friends from high school walked on and he gets a decent amount of Pt, even forced the fumble in that awful Tech loss.

Plus he is the strongest guy on the team.

Occasionally you have the Tommy Saunders types who can walk on and contribute, but as this program continues to solidify itself with quality depth, it is going to be harder and harder for those guys to be anything other than pixels in the team photo.
